Destroyer skill impart on ship skill balance question

So, I'm training now all cruiser skills to 3, which should be complete by the time the 24th patch comes.
Destroyer skill is only at 2, and I have BC skill at 5.

Since the change makes destroyer skill 4 a must in order to get to cruiser skill (from what I understood), how will this impact on my ship options?
Will I still get BCs to 5 and be able to fly every T1/Faction ship below BS, or will I have an issue?

CCP has made this clear, whatever they end up doing, you will still be able to fly what you could pre-change.

Not including bugs.

As I understand from the blog, the entire prerequisite skill chain does not need to be present to fly a ship, just the actual skills the ship requires. As such changing dependencies should have no effect on ships you have already trained for. So in your case you would still be able to fly BC's/Cruisers without issue despite only having destroyer 2.

The change isn't coming on the 24th or maybe for a quite a while yet, as CCP Ytterbium said in another thread they want to redo the destroyer battlecruiser lines before making the change.

I for one will have BC5, destroyer 5, and everything else to 4 just in case...

Except CCP have not made this clear.


What they've said is you will be able to fly what you could before.

But they've also said that they were looking at 2 options that we know of, there maybe more.

Option one, if you have the destroyer skill at 5 and bc at 5 you will get all racial destroyers and racial BCs at 5.

Option two, If you have the destroyer skill at 5 and bc at 5 plus all the racial cruiser skills at 3 you will get all the racial destroyers and racial BCs at 5.


They've also not totally ruled out a skill reimbursement although this is probably less likely.



So in short, CCP have not really made up their minds yet.

They'd better make a good plan because they'll annoy a hell of a lot of people.

The plan to split them in itself isn't bad at all, but the reimbursement options as projected thus far will suck.

My older chars clone cost will be bloated for no benefit and ships I don't want to fly whilst my 4 month old clown-alt would benefit from the free SP but most likely wont be able to finish all races BC V before the changes are done.

People who want to crosstrain and start today receive an instant 6 mill SP disadvantage compared to older players.

Honestly, CCP should cut down racial skill multipliers by 50% compared to todays universal skill, drop the BC V requirements and destroyers V for flying command ships and dictors (not to train them) and reimburse the SP in BC and destroyer skills.

That way everyone would still be able to fly the ships he could if he wanted and chose between them without putting new players 3-4 months back in training.

They may not have made up their mind on the method but they guaranteed that what you could fly pre-change you will be able to fly post-change.

Yup, said may times, ccp will ensure that we can fly after what we can fly now. Also, they said that they have no issue with giving out extra sp or other things to ensure that. Their main concern stated is a flawless transmission where nobody gets penalized for it. They need the change for future expansions, so if people get some (or alot) of SP to maintain their abilities, it really won't matter. Personally not looking forward to the increased clone cost.

Its late, Im tired but I have a question.

If you have all racial cruisers at 5 and BC at 5 do you get any proposed free sp?

Simple question from a simple man, looking for simple answer from a hot female is possible.

- They also stated that racial BC skill multipliers won't differ from the current generic one.

- That means if you have them all at V your SP will be bloated by roughly 6 million SP.


Congratulations - your med clone just increased in cost for absolutely no benefit.
