Today, Let's look at two things I think everybodies effectively fogotten existed
Defender Missiles and Mining Frigates

Has CCP ever explicitly stated that they will look at these two things EVER

Defender Missiles are pretty useless even on paper, they reduce incoming missile damage at the expense that you might be losing around 1/7th of your damage output
There is no reason to load them into anything other than a rocket launcher, but you could load them into a citadel torpedo launcher
In practice they almost never actually reduce incoming missile damage.

Mining Frigate
Bantam, Burst, Tormentor, Navita
When was the last time you saw anyone flying one of the things
They are out Mined by destroyers you get practically free with the tutorial.
And unlike literally every other frigate in the game, these have no Tech II variants.

So anything else even more useless that I've forgotten about them?

the mining frigates are used by new players to mine. i know, its hard to believe, but they are used.

Mining frigates are also given out free in the tutorial missions, and if you don't do the combat tutorials, you don't get a destroyer.

The bonuses on Mining frigs make them definitely worthwhile for the newbie. Destroyers are for salvaging, not mining.

Yet unlike every other ship in the game, you can't find another use for it once you "Grow out of it"
Even if it's just to make a T2 ship.

It would be nice if defender missile launchers could be fit to utility high slots.

The Procurer? That's the tiny T1 barge right?

I think I've seen one once, then I ganked it and haven't seen another one since

I dunno. I've often fantasized about what effect a newbie wing of 50 fast, rocket launcher-laden cruisers spewing Defenders would have on the field, reducing the DPS of a tengu fleet while alphafleet does its work. Perhaps its just us who haven't yet cracked the nut on how to employ those mods.

Mining frigs... well, newbs gonna newb i guess

Also, have you ever seen the visual effects of a drakefleet inside a sanctum, with the rats firing defenders? Its quite beautiful.

Except Defenders only target missiles going to YOUR ship, not you fleet mates.

I thought defender missiles only reduced incoming damage. In other words, you have to fire them to destroy missiles coming at you, therefore, you have to take up a launcher slot and reduce your own outgoing damage. It would be cool to have antimissile frigates or the future equivalent of aegis systems.

Tactical destroyers... I'll take a dozen Gallente, please.

Defender missiles are useful on interceptors. They can help you last that one little second longer that it takes your gang to get backup points.

You know that could be a use for the mining frigate and defender missile.
Come to think of it a frigate sized logi might be interesting to watch.

I actually use FOFs for Guristas missions or any where you can expect not to lock for long periods of time.
