I am thinking about setting up a pi chain in a worm hole and was just wondering if it would be more profitable to use the npc custom office, or to just launch products to transport them from my exaction planets to my factory planet. I know I will have to use the co to get the materials on the planet, but its getting stuff off planet that i'm asking about.

It depends on how long you will be in there, honestly. We have a w-space system with probably about 10-12 toons doing various levels of PI (very infrequent/casual to pretty intense). We paid back 8 POCOs in about 2.5 months (assuming ~125 mil per POCO) if you consider that you save essentially 100% of the interbus taxes - you either get them as corp income or they are savings to players.

If you are just one player (and especially if you are only one toon), then it will take quite a while to make it back. A factory planet can pay for itself in a hurry, but extraction planets take a bit longer.

Do not launch. You can only launch small amounts and have a long cool down between launch's.
The Tax is not a heavy hit on P1 mats to export. I would try to put up a POCO on your factory planet though as that is where you would pay the majority of your taxes. Even with one toon a factory planet can make back the 120 mil fairly quick.

I'll echo this.

I only just recently got into PI again as well ( in a WH ), and the export cost alone for a run of P3, that is worth around 9m based on current market prices, costs 2.5m. That's not counting the tax on exports from the 4 extraction planets, and import to get it down on the production planet.

Guess the P3 market has dropped considerably since the time they set the taxes. Cause that's more like 25-30% tax, not 17% :(
