a couple of things to mention

we better have COMPLETE control of this launcher
-we do not pay sub fees to be your content peer to peer distributor
- we do other things with our pc's then games and most of are bandwidth limited

that being said a nagging memory of boot.ini being replaced comes to mind...

KEEP it simple and KEEP US in Control of the program, if this becomes some p2p networking crap that kills the bandwidth while im in a telephony conference (voip) then its pretty simple, eve will be deleted and subs cancled.

dont try to put crap past on us like u do in the past, from the all the errors and problems im reading this is YET ANOTHER rushed
release that is total garbage.

we pay your wages and keep you in business, we arnt here to deleiver your content, to advertise for you.

source code for this launcher better be open. im sick of ccp crappy releases and rush patchs.

This is the exact reason that we've added download throttling to the Launcher. Please dig through the options when it's gone live, we'd love to hear your feedback Smile.

I would also like to add that the Launcher currently does not use any peer to peer traffic. More information about this can be seen in the FAQ on the first page.

How about building proxy support?

What is currently stopping you from using a proxy? Does the Launcher change anything?

I haven't tried the Launcher yet, but one can't play EVE from behind a proxy that requires authentication, so i assume the Launcher will be the same, which means guys with slow connections that used to get their patches from the office, like me, will no longer be able to do this.

There are tickboxes that make sure the launcher doesn't launch when there is no update.
I think it would be awesome if this was the default setting..

Right now it's a bit silly, I press the eve-button and then eve asks me, do you really want to play? YES that's why I pressed the freaking eve-button you stupid.

Sisi is currently at version 354441 TRANQUILITY.

I downloaded and installed a new sisi client and am trying to launch it but all I get are errors, which of course I can't copy/paste due to poor error reporting design.

They're all crc errors like this one:

Verification failed: 'C:\Program Files(x86)\CCP\Singularity\bin\Awesomium.dll', crc:11fc12a0 expected: 40b5533.

When I launch the repair tool, it tries to download a crc .dat for tranquility, version 353549 (I fixed that by adding --server=sisi for repair). start.ini says server=Tranquility (on a fresh sisi download!) and launching an eve.exe or launcher.exe shortcut with /server:87.237.38.50 or /server:Singularity does not help.

In short, the new launcher sucks, this sisi client build is broken, and I wish I still had a working sisilauncher.exe

I had similar issues... tried to "repair.exe --server=sisi" which ran and got the client to 354441 btu then loggin in it still tried to connect to TQ and so not compatible.
Tried the launcher but if starts to download a patch back to 353549 so cancelled quick... (I did let it run the first time but of course had to redo the repair then)

Finally your message gave me an idea... worked fine for me when i used "..\bin\ExeFile.exe /server:Singularity"

Hope this helps if anyone is in my situation Blink

Welcome back from Fan Fest.
1st, after installing new launcher on Win7 Ultimate 64bit(Eve TQ works great) I am unable to connect to SiSi. It takes me to TQ. I have a separate SiSi folder for it on "C" drive. I ran repair in SiSi folder, right clicked and ran as admin and used "run as admin" when attempting to launch SiSi via the new launcher IN SiSi folder..I am not a software guru/genius, heck even "smart" with win7, but I sure would like some easy/clear method/way to alter any files needed to connect to SiSi. I cant locate the bin file to alter or input the /sisi:Singularity (if correct) as I do not use icons on desktop. I pin to task bar.
Thanks in advance for reading and providing any help, remember, I am not a Win7 l33t user :)

EDIT: After hangover cured! Oops

I put a desktop shortcut(against my wishes), right clicked it and was able to add the /server:Singularity to target.

So have a great day all :)

The current error tree if the launcher cannot find an internet connection needs to be replaced with a simple connection check and no internet connection pop up. Would solve alot of the corruption issues caused by failing to find a connection.

If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

See you around the universe.

I fixed my problem by moving the sisi client from C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\Singularity to C:\Singularity and marking each folder within it as not-read-only (the sisi install itself was created by copying a working 1.5.4 Tranquility folder). Then I ran sisilauncher again (version 135) and launched, boom it worked. I had previously been running the repair tool and sisilauncher as admin on the sisi client within program files dir, and it was certainly patching everything, so I have no idea why this actually fixed things. I just saw it suggested in a forum search and gave it a shot.

This is pretty messed up, CCP!

how about making it WORK for every one before taking away the manual patch download.how do you expect anyone to import the patch if there is no where to download it from in the first place, put it behind a log on webpage by all means but at least allow the download

Dear friends!
The EVE Online Launcher v.1.17 from Singularity patcher is now bugged.
It is not updating anymore for me. While trying to update (aktualizing) it is starting the patcher tool and starting the first step. After app. 3% (up to 12%) in this step the progress bar is jumping to app. 25% and than it is breaking up with the error message:
"An error occured while applying patch, the launcher will now try to apply the patch safely with raised privilages."
Than a "Applying patch" message is showing up which pops an other "applyPatch" message which is saying:
"Uanable to apply patch It is recomended that you restart your computer and then run the EVE Online launcher again."
I did that several times, all with same result. The launcher doesn't works anymore.
I tryed to cleanup all catches, deleted all patches in the Singualrity folder, started and updated the repair tool, but all that did not helped. Also opening/starting the launcher as administrator did not work. The launcher is not working anymore.
I had same problem after the Crucible 1.6.3 update with the Tranquility folder, but after rebooting the computer it worked and the launcher could update and load the game, NOT so on Singularity.

Please help me out with tat

Why no dev response on why Sisi launcher now tries to patch to TQ?

I know there is the fix where the user has to go in and edit the files, but really CCP...that's why we are PAYING YOU...to do the dev work for us...so that we don't have to manually adjust all the files from our end to make your product work correctly while you remain silent on the issue.

There was a small update today after maintenance on Tranquility (2012-04-12) and I hoped it could help with the update (patch) on Singularity. So I made a fresh testserver installation with the Tranquility update from today but unfortunately with same result. In the downloading process (app. 60%) it got sam error message:

"An error occured while applying patch, the launcher will now try to apply the patch safely with raised privilages."

Than a "Applying patch" message is showing up which pops an other "applyPatch" message which is saying:

"Uanable to apply patch It is recomended that you restart your computer and then run the EVE Online launcher again."

I'm now tiered of trying and soooo poor response (none). For the DEV's are obiously other "Ingame objects" are more important than a clean installation.

The launcher seems a good thing here so far, anything that helps the bug hunt is a great thing

Couple of observations

No Eve time displayed or access to any calendar - so many time zones would be useful to anyone planning operations or just checking if corp mates online

The transition into Eve proper is a bit clumsy, the intro music stutters along with the movement on the splash screen. - I think its waiting for something from the server or building the splash screen. An appropriate pause or delay before render would make it look a lot smoother

Just a poor initial impression.
Yes im being fussy, but the initial image of a black screen and sound stutter is a pet hate. Reminds me of poor progamming in the past and makes a mockery of the latest hardwear.

Just curious - what does "Proxy not Connected" on login screen to SiSi? Unable to login atm.

This is the 1st time I've seen this message(many years on SiSi) and as stated,"Just curious" What?

The Launcher is currently broken for Singularity on Windows. We know about the issue and it will be either fixed within the next hours or tomorrow morning.

Is it fixed now? I still can't update. I tryed all posted suggestion's but the launcher is still failing with an error message which I can't post here (getting kicked out from this posting page when I try).

Appreciate the launcher, but:
CCP Cascade wrote:
...Q: What about Manual patches?
A: Manual patches will also go away, but for those of you who have multiple computers and only wish to download the data once from the internet, there is an option to Import/Export the downloaded data from machine to another. The feature is still being worked on, but you see it available soon. For now you can try it out by copying and pasting the .patch file with the correct build numbers from the EVE folder from one to another. So yes, the feature is there, but the nice user interface isn't... yet....

It is all fine and dandy that one can export/import the downloaded data, but could you add a toggle so that the first thing the blasted thing does is not to start downloading or at least have a shared folder for the data ..?

PS: Add some fluff to it, such as the market ticker and the like .. would really bring it life me'thinks Smile
