I am training this pilot for Hulk and Orca. What certificates would you recommend after getting him trained for these 2 ships? I realize just getting him to fly these ships there is alot more to getting the proper modules to fly them well.

Fiting them well is actually quite easy and the extra 2% aren't worth it at the beginning. You should pick a fit and train for that but think about what to go for after you can fit your two ships.

For an orca that is not a fleet booster i recommend
3x cargo extending rigs
1x Reactor controll
1x Extended cargohold
1x 100mn MWD
rest whatever

After you can fit your hulk and orca the way you want. Think about where you want to be in the near future and start training things in that direction.
That depends on where you mine, how you mine and with whom you mine.
As 0.0 mining will become lucrative you might want to go for transport ships. If you dont have friends with refining skills thats also something to consider.
Or you can train for mining command links for your orca, if you use 2 accounts for mining, one with an orca, and you sit in highsec al day, that would be advisable.
Also freighter are very usefully.
And if you do 0.0 mining, a JumpFreighter will eventually be the way to go.
untill then you know exactly what you want and where you want to be for the future.

in case you asked for some fitting recommendations, that depends on where you mine. An orca should fit a 100mn MWD for faster warping, but it takes a power grid mod to fit. for highsec you can fit your hulk for max mining yeald or over 30k ehp to withstand gankers. it is easy to tank the beltrats.

hope that helps,

Probably the best solution tho is to "not mine" , spend your time with more meaningful things like mastvrbation or sleeping.

Skills to:

Boost your capacitor. stalling in the middle of a system is annoying
Boost your shields, armor and structure. Probably won't save you from a gank, but they might
Rigging skills. You want to minimize the penalty from your rigs.
Most of the leadership skills. Or all of them. As Orca, you'll be fleet booster. the shield boosts you give might be the difference between a gank succeeding, or failing.

Woo! CSM XI!

Solely based on certificates I'd recommend (in no particular order): Core Integrity Elite, Core Navigation Elite (or just Core Competency Elite), Skirmish Warfare Chief Standard (higher if you want to use one of the Warfare Links), Harvesting Comptroller Improved (Elite for big fleets), High Velocity Helmsman Elite (optional but won't hurt either).

Also, I'd skip skilling for the Hulk if you'd like to dedicate yourself to piloting the Orca anyway. This saves you quite some time and still allows you to fly a Retriever.
