Unable to connect to the selected server. Please check the address and try again.

this is what i get everytime i try to login since yesterday afternoon(or since last 22 hours). and just when i was writing this topic and started to log in eve told me theres a new patch, i updated it and got this

The client's local session information is corrupt, probably as a result of failed cleanup during a disconnect. Connecting to the server in this state could lead to a rather unpleasant game experience. Please restart the client prior to logging in.

after restart of client i again got the first message

Unable to connect to the selected server. Please check the address and try again.

.... im confused and have a poor knowledge, in fact none, of how to fix this problem. ive searched in forums for some answers but still didnt get it.

can someone tell me what is going on or giv me a dummie proof plan on how to fix this?

i want to play this game so bad and subscribe after the trial is over.
can it be that the problem is cuz im on trial mode?

ive also ran the repair tool and still no changes and i see the server is running normaly.

I have asked one of the Technical GM's to take a look at this and see if he can provide any advice.

In the mean time, you can submit a petition under 'Technical', 'Connection Issues' and we will be able to provide one to one support.

Hi Eonwe,

The second error message you received seems to indicate that you have managed to connect briefly to the server before the connection was broken.

Without knowing more specific information the solutions below are always worth a try:

1. Check out the following wiki article which details common connection issues:

http://support.eveonline.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=119

2. Try bypassing your router and plugging straight into the modem

3. Contact your ISP and ask if they can test your line for any problems.

4. Use a program such as Ping Plotter to get more detail on your connection. You can download the program from the following location:

http://www.pingplotter.com/downloads/pngplt_std.exe

5. Use the Logserver tool to see if it provides any further clues. Information on using the logserver tool can be found at the following location:

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Logserver

The last two are really only useful if you know what you are looking for. As you state you have little technical experience if the first three steps do not solve the problem then I would suggest you submit a petition and we will be able to offer more tailored guidance.

You can create a petition by going to the following location:

https://support.eveonline.com/Pages/Petitions/CreatePetition.aspx

Please don't hesitate in contacting us if the problem continues.

It's typically an issue with your network connection.

Check your firewalls and router settings.

Socket closed typically means you lost packet connection to the server.

If it's happening within the very same time frame every day or in some form of regular pattern, it is pretty likely that some form of traffic shaping is going on with your ISP. That also doesn't necessarily show up on traces either, as traffic shaping usually targets specific ports or connection types (such as file sharing protocols and ports used by such programs) and actively messes with those to close them.

what i dont understand also is that for first 5-6 days i played normaly, not one error, not one crash. same router same settings, nothing changed. and then this happens.

im rading past articles about this socket problem but noone actualy has the answer to how to fix it.

i know what you may think, my internet connection, but its the same, didnt change a bit.

It didn`t just happen to you, it happened to me also.
I got dumped out of the game on that very same date, at first I couldn`t login, then I finally could, but it promptly crashed again.

After a few attempts I gave up

Next day, it was back to normal

It was a login server glitch, which can happen occasionally (as usual, nobody at CCP noticed the logins were decreasing Roll )

It was not your ISP or Computer at fault.....
