So my corp is having a destroyer 1v1 comp and i have no idea for a ship fit.
Im training mainly for mining at the moment but i can fly a caracal so i have chosen a cormorant as my destroyer as i have shield tanking skills.
Im not sure i want a actual ship fit given to me as that seems a bit unfair, but maybe some advice on any itmes that would be useful in a 1v1 situation or what kind of combat the cormorant lends itself too. Thanks in advance :)

If its for a corp competition, ask yourself:

does the rules allow warp outs or not. - if warp outs = forfeit, you can forget scrams/tackle and fit something else like another hardner.

If it does not allow warp outs does it have a out of bounds limit? - if so how big is the playing field? if its small, you have a better chance at getting nano fits with brawler fits or if its big you can nano kite fit.

and questions as such.

This may sound irrelevant for typical PVP, but finding what modules/fit is the most suitable to the current situation and target goes a long way in learning basics of PVP.

If I were doing this in that ship I'd decide if I wanted close up or kiter. Note that I'm recommending tech II modules as I generally use tech II. You may not be able to fit tech IIs due to skills, and your fitting skills may not be up to this loadout with tech II. You could just fit the various named modules. What ever you do avoid using the generic tech I modules. They cost more, require more cpu/power, and have worst stats than the tier 1&2 named modules. The rigs will add a lot to your cost so you migh want to skip them. Also consider a cpu rig if you run out of cpu.

As churrros said, it'll depend a LOT on the specific rules to the fights you'll be having.

That said, the Cormorant lends itself well to sniping with rails.

Thrasher

Hi
7x 200mm Autocannon II
1x Small Neut

Med
1x Large Shield Extender II
1x Warp Scram
1x 10mn Afterburner

Low
2x Gyrostabilizer II

Rig
3x Small Core Defence Field Extender (the shield extending ones)

Things are only impossible until they are not.

Thrasher is my dessie of choice, but I'd recommend the following generally:

1) get into range quickly (MWD if you can fit it, otherwise AB)
2) full rack of your wep of choice (in my case 200mm AC IIs)
3) neut, scram
4) gyro II, DCU II

My choice of rigs would be Burst Aerator or Collision, and a Trimark. In a friendly competition I'd just go for the jugular quickly; in pvp you need a bit more tactical approach.

ECM works great on destroyers, jus' saying. This will probably be disallowed depending on your rules but if its not you probably have a good indication of what your friends will be bringing (probably thrashers), so yeah ECM thrasher, best thrasher.
