It should be easy for a small alliance to grab a few systems in null. But after that the cost of sov should skyrocket.
Keeping 1 constellation should not be too hard on the wallet, keeping sov in 1 constellation+ 1 system should almost double the cost.

This way getting foothold in null will be (more) easy, but expanding will be difficult.

I agree with the idea of keeping the ammount of space people can hold to a minimum, but CCP must be careful in the implementation of such a change, don't let them run with the 'we assume less will do it because it's expensive as ****'.
That was what they did with Dominion; that didn't stop major alliances from holding the space they had before. Sad

There will always be people or groups with more ISK than you can possibly imagine, and the best restriction in that sense is an actual timer. It works for skills and sov levels, so why not the actual act of expanding sov too?

Maybe sovreignity should depend more on the actual 'geography' of the space it is located in? I'm not sure myself how that would work out, but ideas are cheap and well worth just throwing out there. Idea

In any case, it's already been said in this thread; the major issue that face new, smaller alliances and corps moving into 0.0 is the fact that the already established coalitions, bluetrains and otherwise massive powerblocks do not allow them to exist.

Why would you allow anyone into space you can project power into if they'll just become an enemy later on?
Isn't it easier to just exterminate them before they even get a foothold?

I know I would...

I know I would...

Because you think like a barbaric warlord ...

Why not try to establish a win-win relationship with them: they get protection from you and you get taxes from them.

This is how states are built.
This is how population increases (more people in 0.0)
This is how Eve could prosper ...

... if only Eve players are up to it.

you my friend are dumb, as stated on the first page.
what do you think are big alliances doing? renting space, having contracts and diplomatic relationships with other alliances.

And if someone gets smashed in the face, that's becouse of long time hate relationships.

if you have no clue i'd like to see you stfu ^^

It's kinda funny that you are trying to stand your ground even with a load of people trying to explain that you are wrong....

looks like someone trying to looks smart.

What would happen if CCP dropped the entire alliance mechanic from the game and made it every corp for themselves?

Do you guys figure that corps would band together anyways and form napfests without the ability to form an alliance supported by game mechanics?

"Long time hate relationships" are exactly what makes tribal life so lively ...

Tribes always hate each others guts and that is what makes them tribes: small bands of wretched, violent, dirt-poor suckers.

Somalia, Afghanistan, Rwanda, Eve Nullsec: same mentality, same results.

I do not believe it is chiefly a matter of game mechanics.

Whether you give Somali or Rwandan warlords bows and arrow or AK-47s or Nukes, they will exactly behave in the same way.

And if you try to have them hold elections or have a legal system or a market-based economy etc, it always fails and the place remains wretchedly poor and deserted just as before.

It is a problem of mentality, not of rules.

Deopheel Dalonne, you have such a tiny grasp on all of this, both in game and in real life... that I simply don't have the time to explain it to you.

James has got the right idea.

Deopheel, on the other hand, comes off as being rather pompous, which is never a good sign.

...clearly the Ishukone Watch Scorpion is the fifth horseman of the Apocalypse, i.e. the Brown Rider, otherwise known as Poopie.

Which part?

Your ineptitude seems so broad-spanning, it is difficult to isolate one section from the rest and focus on it without a massive wall of text (of which you would no doubt enjoy, i imagine)

No wall of text for you!
Try to think about the possibility that you don't know nearly as much as you think that you do. You will find yourself on a more positive (and fruitful) road to discovery.

P.S.

If your ego forbids you from doing so give This A Read Somaliland takes a crap on your assumptions. It ofc is not in the main stream media, and thus it will not come up in a simple google search. As a result, you are prob entirely unaware of it's existence.

When anything goes wrong, we all LOVE to blame the boss, it is so esay ! And so comfortable for our ego ...

In this case, how easy it is to bash CCP all the time !

But to try to look inward and see what WE are doing wrong, well, that is less easy ...

And to invite others to do so has never been a receipe for popularity. Well, that is the way things are.

As a matter of fact, I worked for several years in Djibouti, which has a common border with Somaliland.

Of course, compared to the southen part of Somalia, Somaliland looks like a paradise. Gang warfare there kills "only" a few hundred people a year instead of running into the thousands like in the rest of the country. Great! Somaliland is also the place where most of the goods stolen by Somali pirates get sold and it is fast becoming the trading hub of the region: child labor (i.e. slavery), prostitution, drugs (khat mostly) and contraband with neighboring Ethiopia (which means that the Ethiopian government loses hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes each year which are not spent on schools, hospitals, roads etc. but on luxury villas and fancy 4WD for the trafickers gang bosses).

Want to continue ?

Good, you asked a question! Big smile Or did you? I didn't see a questionmark. Ugh
Q: Why not try to establish a win-win relationship with them: they get protection from you and you get taxes from them.
A
: This is already happening, alliances have renters (read: pets). Unfortunately the only real protection they get is the name of the alliance they rented their space from; and here's the big 'HOWEVER':
Mittens wrote:

Problem here is that taking **** from larger entities isn't a very compelling option for a lot of people, and a common analogy there would be:
"Bend over or GTFO"

Take that as you want.

EDIT:

Okay, so let me shoot a question back at you:
In EVE Online, why would you let anyone take something from you if you did not benefit from it?

Don't take that as a heartless question, I'm human too, but this is EVE Online, not Somalia; there is no reward in throwing space away, I don't get that warm fuzzy feeling from doing charity work in a game about taking opportunities; I get that warm fuzzy feeling when I put my guns on a Hulk and see it pop, read the rage in local, but most of all when I find the expensive mods it had fitted.

James you're partially right in my eyes.

for me eve is THe ultimate end of the world simulator, what would happen if there wouldn't be rules and police in the world...
Me personally would steal, kill, scam wherever i can to benefit, if this means i have to make other people "bend over" it's ok for me.

As an example Deopheel would be one of the guys i'd keep in a cage and let them out when i am bored to torture him...

so gtfo with your happy world theory and all people should love each other, damn hippy.

and to the UNICEF part, i was born in a warzone with the "help" of unicef.... so go **** yourself and your unicef!
