Most bought/sold freighters

So, is there anywhere one can find the statistics concerning the most numerous freighter type used in the game?

I can only speculate it being the Charon due to it having the biggest cargo hold, but are there any numbers?

Thanks in advance, guys! Blink

I'd wager that the charon and obelisk are pretty close together. Charon because it's the biggest, obelisk because gallente industrial V gives you the itty V, so a lot of people train that.

I'd actually say the Providence is.

I certainly seem to see more of them dotted around high sec, probably due to looks.

From looking at The Forge, looks like Fenrir is least bought. Charon perhaps the most popular with Providence and Obelisk maybe joint second.

+ Obelisk allows you to also fly Iteron Mk V.
+ Charon is biggest.
+ Providence has a better aesthetic appeal.

I see mostly Obelisk with Charon a close second, Fenrir trailing a long way back in third with Providence not far behind.

This pretty much sums up what we believe to be true. Too bad it's hard to get hold of accurate numbers. But as you pointed out, one can look at the market history in Jita/The Forge to get a good indication.

Thanks for all the good replies! Smile

Just a note about the Charon, having the biggest cargo hold is not as important of an advantage as it may seem. If you are flying around in highsec, there is a monetary limit (or at least should be if you are smart) to how much stuff you can fit, and most of the time you cannot fill a frieghter's hold with stuff without being gang banged by 20 tornados unless you are carrying items with a low isk/m3 ratio such as veldspar.

Now getting back on subject, I have personally seen about a 50/50 split between the flying filing cabinet (Obelisk) and the Charon and Providence is about as rare as the sandcrawlers (Fenrir) with maybe with the Providence edging out over the Fenrir in popularity.

You fail at checking the jita numbers, this is the median sold per day last month
Charon 33
Obelisk 27
Providence 16
Fenrir 15

Well this just shows that people do not do much thinking.
There are very few times you actually need the biggest cargo space. There are some uses but mostly you will fly with some empty space meaning Fenrir is actually the best for both AFK and Piloted shipping of large quantities of materials.

It is the fastest to warp and unless you just move 2 jumps on regular basis it does save a LOT of time. Also you will get the 2nd best T1 hauler at minmatar industrial lvl 4. [Makes the wait much more bearable.]

Fenrir all the way. Time is money.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Charon: 44s align, 94m/s -> 133.s or 2.21m to crawl 12.5km on autopilot to jumpgate.
Fenrir: 37.6 align, 125m/s -> 100s or 1.67m to crawl 12.5km on autopilot to jumpgate.

So for 10 jumps that is:
* Charon - 440s + 1,330s = 1,770s or 29.5 minutes.
* Fenrir - 376s + 1,000s = 1376s or 22.9 minutes.
Plus session change time.

The Fenrir saves 6.6minutes every 10 jumps over the Charon. That 6.6 minutes can be used for another 2.9 jumps.

Yes, there is validity to the "speed" versus practical cargo size, but if you really wanted to save time, you wouldn't autopilot in the first place.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Fenrir is the best, because when you have four different freighters with four different cargo bay sizes in the game, then people start looking for a cargo size every freighter can haul. The most common size in use is 860,000 m3 and it is the maximum size for shipments with Red Frog and many other freight services. Another number often found is 900,000m3, which a Fenrir still can move but it needs level V in its skill. 1,000,000m3 cannot be achieved by any of the freighters. What remains is the speed advantage of the Fenrir over the others.

The question was which is the most sold/bought freighter. Seeing that Jita is in Caldari space do I think it is not a surprise to see the Charon in front of the Obelisk, but the Obelisk could be the more popular and one would need to include the Dodixie numbers to get a better picture.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

I wasn't even considering autopilot. To me, aligning to warp a few seconds faster makes the Fenrir that much less painful to fly. Honestly, I'm considering getting a set of Nomad implants too (saves 10 seconds or so per warp). Then again, Red Frog basically made my freighter alt obsolete.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

The Fenrir is best for autopilot, while the Charon is best for warp to zero. (in terms of volumetric rate) The Rhea is the best JF so I guess you'd train the Charon if you want it.

The Providence, however is the best freighter because it is simply beautiful.

Maybe i'm weird, but i freakin love the design of the Fenrir/Nomad, to me, that has the better aesthetics.

No kidding, the jumps I've made in Null and Lowsec made me sweat less after leaving the station or arriving at the cyno beacon, fast ship. I wonder how fast it would be with a full set of Nomad implants.
