Federation Navy Hobgoblin vs Hobgoblin II

So i was camparing these 2 drones, and I found an interesting thing:
In EFT the Hobgoblin II is better then Federation Navy Hobgoblin, while the Hobgoblin II is 8 times cheaper.
Why? The EFT shows, that Gallente drone specialization is not working on Federation drones.. .Is it true? Or is the EFT wrong?

Part of the reason will be that people can then buy the fed ones without having to train up for T2 drones (very lazy people albeit) Its the same as meta 4 guns being as good as the T2 ones and more expensive, the reasoning being that people will still buy the meta 4 ones because they dont need training so much.

As for EFT, I cant say. I'd say that its true, since the T2 ones need Gallente drone specialisation to use, but the fed ones dont.

It's true. Faction weapons don't benefit from spec skills and drones are no exception. Faction sentries are ok while waiting for spec 5 to finish but otherwise faction drones are best avoided.

Navy drones have superior tracking and twice the HP of their T2 counterparts I believe .. in a frig fight those attributes are a lot more valuable than some measly ISK and a bit more paper DPS.

As faction gets no spec bonus they are not as good. Period. This is not from paper. They are stopgap.

just because navy drones don't get specialization bonus doesn't mean that superior tracking and hp is useless.

While true about the hobgoblins & Hammerheads there is quite a difference in eHP so much so with Federation Ogres I perfer them over T2 Ogres

Faction drones have 2x shield/armor HP, as well as better tracking than t2, but t2 has a slightly better damage multiplier as well as being ~20% faster, also they have a larger structure HP and are affected by specialization skills. T2 sentries also have better optimal range.

For PvE the extra HP of faction drones don't really help, but for PvP i have seen some fed navy ogres in drone HP bonused hulls and they kinda seem to have fair trade off.
