Is this implant only available as a reward from some L4 storyline missions, or do some NPC's in plexes also drop it?

As far as I know, the Mining Foreman Mindlink is only available as a reward for doing the Level 4 storyline mission "Shipyard Theft", and then it's random which mindlink you get.

This, plus you won't always get a mindlink at all -- it can also give crappy 3% implants as well.

Yes. I have run a zillion quadtrillion gabillion lvl 4's with their storyline and, coincidently only just received the item in the OP for the first time.

I have done many things in Eve...and this was the first non-crap item I have ever gotten/found*

So, don't exepct to find one of these things even if you mission every day for a year,



*Granted, my definition of non-crap is probably more selective than yours.

The main reason was down to the large increase in the number of level 4 storyline missions - a lot more possible missions mean Shipyard Theft comes up less often therefore less mindlinks (of any sort) dropping. All mindlinks have increased in price because of this.

I'm at the exact opposite end of the spectrum. I got Shipyard Theft after doing my very first set of 16 L4 missions and got the Mining Foreman Mindlink in return. You roll the dice and sometimes you get lucky Big smile Too bad I don't mine.

I asked a serious question. What leads you to believe they do not drop from certain drug sites anymore, like they used to? I've received a handful of mindlinks from them, however I stopped running them when we left Cloud Ring, which was about a year ago.

While I don't have the link Czeris, I believe that yes, around that time the mind links did in fact become rarer due to being restricted in their drop rate by CCP.

They most certainly do still drop from the nullsec COSMOS sites and various obscure things scattered around lowsec. The price increase is due to:
i) The introduction of a large number of new L4 storyline missions, which made Shipyard Theft quite rare and thus reduced supply
ii) The learning skill refund and proliferation of T3 link alts/leadership characters, which increased demand

Well. The first link is a blog post that mentions they added storyline missions. The second is a fansite where the only mention of implants is in the same paragraph with future features including avatar based combat in stations, which is what, at least a year away?

I am convinced now. This irrefutable proof that CCP has removed these items from some nearly forgotten and outdated plexes in drug constellations is clear to me. Truly you are a font of information and a paragon of veracity.
