Skill affects in what order?

Is their a priority to how skills are applied to a base value?

Mining drones for example. The Mining Drone skill gives 5% increase yield per level, but Drone Interfacing gives 20% per level. So which is applied first to the base skill?

I can guess that both bonuses are based on basic yield of a mining drone...
That means that both increases are a fixed number, no matter which one is applied first Smile

As far as I can see with other skills/modules the second would include the boost from the first, but since they are both multipliers it doesn't matter since you can arrange multipliers anyway you want without changing the result.

Yield Multiplier = (1 + Mining Drones * 5%) * (1 + Drone Interfacing * 20%)

all bonuses in eve (afaik) do not compound and are applied to the base stat then added.

That is incorrect. The math on multiple stacking-penalized mods gets harder (and resists are pretty wonky) but most multiplicative bonuses are indeed simply multiplicative.

yeah youre right, i rechecked it and they do compound. (i rechecked my maths.)
in any case, to answer the op's question, it makes no difference what order you apply the bonuses in.

With diminishing returns in EVE all you need to remember is that the 4th bonus is usually near worthless amount unless the first 3 bonuses were humongous to begin with.

To be fair, the diminishing returns mechanic could conceivably make the order of certain _modules_ important, since, for example, with a 15% resistance bonus and a 50% resistance bonus:

(1-0.50)*(1-0.15*0.87) is not the same as (1-0.50*0.87)*(1-0.15)

So it's not an entirely stupid question to wonder if the same applies to skills. Though, as far as I know, skill bonuses _are_ simply multiplicative, so the transitive, associative properties apply.

(Actually it's been a while, I forget if diminishing returns actually apply to modules that aren't literally the same item different in meta level at most)

The OP question was about skill order. Order doesn't matter.

Also skills are not affected by stacking penalty, only module & rig effects are.
