Preping miners for hulkagaddon.

During Hulkadeggon do not mine, but sell minerals, mining ships and mining equipment.

During the rest of the year hoard minerals and produce mining ships and mining equipment.

Profit.

During Hulkageddon run Mining and Distribution missions to buff up standing for perfect refining (and jumpclones).

You can always mine during Hulkageddon and hope for the odds (the quieter the constellation and the higher the sec-status the better, Veldspar can be nice for a change...).

And if you mine during Hulkageddon:

a. mine alligned
b. don't mine afk
c. watch the overview
d. warp out as soon as something seems fishy
e. put on some buffer tank

Be prepared that there is no tank that can not be vaporized by dedicated gankers in seconds (or even alpha'd).

You may be interested in a great thread titled "Prepping Gankers for Hulkaggedon"

Let the forum know in there how you would counter these dastardly tactics employed

Only thing this is not very effective for is Ice mining... and if you do such actively, you have my pity.

Making 2-3B a month in a completely AFK setup certainly sucks.

for the rest of the game.... yes

GM Homonoia: Suicide ganks are a valid and viable tactic in EVE.

All you points are excellent info, but point A shows that you do not either mine in a group nor mine with an Orca. For both you need to be static and passive allignment does not work.

In addition and only for the worst cases:

  • Hankies
  • Tissues
  • Blankies
  • Socks
  • Cookies
  • Hot chocolate
  • Candles
  • Music

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

If all above fails, buy your new stuff from me Cool

Yeah, being aligned is like the ultimate win.

I mean, sure, gankers could have a Warp Disruptor without really interfering with their fit at all. But mostly they don't bother because of the totally poor align time of Hulks.

I wonder if the 17 year old kid that is the target market for Dust will find CCP delightful inability to balance anything amusing. Well, at least they will be patient. I've heard 17 year old boys are known for their patience.

Well, what other First Person Shooter will he go to? With a captive market, CCP is actually pretty safe on Dust.

Oh boy, is that gonna go boom.

Fair enough - but just to understand you properly - what do you actually do when mining?

Honest question - do some people really sit there for hours, hitting D-Scan over and over again as has been suggested in this thread and just mine for a handfull of measly isk?

I have a character that can fly a hulk and I recently tried it (originally a hauling alt that I trained to serve my mains - just trained it because I had nothing else to train on it).

After a minute, I did something else on the second screen, later watched a little TV and then took my ebook reader out and read a book, just checking every now and then when i heard an 'asteroid depleted' message and jumping another char in a hauler back and forth.

That way it was pretty ok (as in - I was actually doing something else with an interactive screensaver in the background).

The most exciting thing happened when someone actually tried to suicide gank me in his catalyst but didn't manage to get beyond 30% shields.

But do people sit there and really 'play mining' in eve?

Yep, I play "mining". Then again I run 2 orcas and 5 hulks. You CAN NOT mine AFK running multiple accounts and yes I hit D/Scan every once in a while to check local but more frequent when strangers are in local.

BTW those minerals are not sold for "measly isk" but used to produce hundereds of thrashers which I sell during hulkageddons. I now also have a tornado BP and have churned a few of those out too. These ships are placed in strategic areas of new eden awaiting the burning of Jita/Hulkageddon.

Ah yes, minerals you mined are free... well thanks to CCP, it is well worth your time to mine, so thanks CCP !

Good job making thrashers though. Keep it up!

Excuse me but where did you get that assumption?

I factor in the price of minerals when producing. usually 10 - 30% above base price so that my mining time produces a profit. Which is why I never sell in that cesspool named Jita.

I would advise you to engage your brain every once in a while but considering you're a mindless drone of the goon hive I won't waste my time.

Staying aligned is probably the safest precaution, well, other than joining a nullsec alliance ofc.

Best way to deal with Hulkaggedon is to buy max number of NPC goods (namely cheapy skill books) until your wallet blinks empty. Then right click -> Destroy all the skill books, as well as checking all your assets to make sure you didn't miss anything. Then log out, log back in, select biomass character, go to sleep, get back on in the morning, and confirm! Problem solved with getting ganked in a ****** ship with poor fitting options that no one but the miners want buffed (even just a little, cause having more structure then shield but a resist bonus barely helps = laughstock) since most dudes want to destroy a ship that takes far longer to get into and cost more in time then a cheap destroyer alt (pro-tip: Titan Nerf, Destroyer Buff, Destroyer acting like highsec mini-Titan in packs equates to DESTROY NEEDING NERF JUST AS MUCH AS TITAN DOES!), be pro-active and destroy your the character youself before a ganker gets to you. And ask CCP to get rid of all mineral sources, since miners are not needed or respected.

Insure the Tech 1 Barges and use those instead that way when it gets popped you just get another one and keep mining.

Serious infomration.

Park on the wrong side of the belt the side you dont warp in at max distance, long range lasers the best if you can afford off the ship.

Go tech 1
Replace cargo expanders with armor
Replace mids with sebo/jammer combo a successful jam would save you from a second volley and allow the next option
Align to warp out target if you must maintain a slower speed and 'sweep belts' less time to spool up.
Splash out soon as somone in a combat ship splashes in.
Drop the mining drones, get jammer drones instead.
Dont jet can mine
Dont hauler mine

Anyone who can not think of something else to do during Hulkageddon, I mean anything, besides mining should probably play a different game.
