In almost every game I've ever played I have never cared about lore. Ever.

However, I happen to be a shameless hard science fiction nerd, so I think the lore in eve may intrigue me. Any good source for this? I've done a little poking around and cannot find anything substantial.

I'd really like to know where Earth is on the map, or even if its there at all. If it is not there, why?

Any link would be appreciated.

Earth isn't on the map, wrong galaxy. And I would suggest looking at the wiki, it has a large amount of lore on there.

There's plenty of lore available - CCP does in fact have full time fiction writers on hand.

Everything is available here.

Additionally, there was a full fiction novel published set in the universe called Empyrean Age.

EVE actually has a very impressively complete and coherent lore to it. As a fellow Science Fiction junkie, I can attest that I have fallen in love with the universe.

There is also alot of lore in the Eve Online WIki

as for Earth the wiki has a fairly long article.
Basically Earth is practically a myth, It's probably on the other side of the EVE gate. In the New Eden system.
You can see the anomaly from there, just be warned, it's in Low Sec and might be hazardous to visit.

Also a good source of lore was the Old Introduction Video.
Like most contemporary MMO intro videos it's long on lore and short on gameplay feel.

There is a fine line between a post and a signature.
