This is a good move but it will only be effective if the bans are "forever" because 2 week bans wont do crap and all people will forgot about this until next year.

The two week ban by itself may not do anything, but also take away the money made while botting and flag their accounts so they can't transfer characters? That hurts them. Here's a quote from a botter:

I don't know if they realize it but putting wallets into negative is pretty much a 1-strike policy. There is no way people are going to try and work their way out of a 10-20bil negative wallet. And since you can't upgrade your clone, make contracts, or do anything really, that account is essentially dead. I can understand the no trading characters after a ban, but if they want to try and make players good after a ban and keep them, they would take away assets on the 2nd or 3rd strike.

They are just too dumb to buy a few PLEX to get the balance back up. If they cannot do this or are not willing to and have been cheating the game as freeloaders then it serves them just right.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

Can they pay the market fee for a plex sale with negative wallet?

With all the bans going out I wonder if some people have been mistakenly banned? Loving the new mineral prices though ^_^. Sucks for people who dont have time mine though.

Probably. The tax gets deducted after the amount went into your wallet. But if not, then I am not going to bother about it. Twisted

Nope but you can sell them with an alt and then transfer the isk.

\o/ Would love to see some juicy ban stats.

I will make a dev blog with some stats in a few weeks.

We've got a lot of stuff going on at the moment on this front which is taking up a lot of my time. Once that is over and we have some good data, I'll put together a dev blog.

Actually thats wrong. tax is included before the transaction takes place.

However, all accounts come with 3 slots...

@CCP

rmters have a habit of putting isk into contracts aimed at new alts.. so they sit there tilllt hey are ready to make use of said isk.

ccp make it so that contracts from banned accounts cannot be accepted at all.
where is my ability to link a sig properly CCP you munters!!

Agreed. Bans should be even harsher actually. Permaban after the 2nd time (who cares if most don't re-offend after the 2nd ban).

There has always been alot of mission-Bots in Torrinos.

I reported one during the week, I must login today to check if he is still around.

On the whole, I love this Bot-destruction.

One of the reasons I started playing the game again was because of all the bot going down Twisted I just love it. I even started paying my actual subs because of the new direction of CCP.

The work that the security team has been doing here is amazing. It's wonderful that, after so many years, CCP hired the right talent and let them loose on the botting problem. I'm tempted to send those guys some nice single malt. : >

Definitely looking forward to the dev blog on this - I'm expecting graphs on assets removed, the effects on resource utilization, character age, specific dates of mass banning, correlations to prices and market activity, etc. I'd also like to see some details on the methodologies used, but I'm going to guess that they want to keep most of that secret.

An Eve without rampant botting is certainly a better Eve. The market will sort itself out - it always does. Soon it will be time to start dumping mineral stockpiles as people start mining again.

Anyone got a link to that guy's blog where he reposted the best gems from the botter forums?

Nosey Gamer

Big smile That's great! Thanks for the link! One of the best ones was:

"17 March:
Gregar: I have yet to be banned and have been using the BOT on 2 accounts - I think I might have got lucky though as I stopped playing for about a month when everyone was getting banned and I had a day off when the next lot of people started getting banned...

EDIT - Both accounts just got banned.. "

HAHAHA! That guy makes me feel like a geenyuus! Think I'll pay my account with cash to reward CCP for culling bots...

We're all there right now.

Tim Horton's Edition Itty IV, in honour of CCP's Canadian FF attendees (Hell, we're practically neighbours)--make it happen, CCP!

The amount of Tim Horton's XL Coffee's I drink a day, I could probably build a life sized Itty IV out of Cups before they finish reskining the model.

Anyway, brb Timmies run.

No problem Stillman...... keep on doing what you're doing! PLEASE, keep on doing what you're doing!!!!!

We'd love to see the stats, but we can already see the results. We'll wait, and enjoy the bot tears in the meantime.

Please tell the "Grand Master" that I (and many others) hope that the gym membership is producing good results. We want the both of you around, and healthy, for a long time to come.
