OK so last time I played this game was October of 2006. I know there has been a lot of changes and I was wondering if anyone could tell me some of them. I am going to start a new character instead of playing an old one at least starting out cause I don't even remember the controls.

There are too many changes to count. Here are the highlights though...

Ships and weapons
- Projectile weapon buff: Ammo only has three ranges now, the middle range ammo gives a slight tracking boost, and you can more or less select damage type.
- T3s: Each race has access to a modular cruiser that can incorporate various (slightly nerfed) T2 bonuses all in one ship.
- Navy and Faction ships: they all got an overhaul making [most of] them actually viable in PvP rather than just "station ornaments." Current FOTY (fit of the year) are the Angel Cartel ships (Dramiel, Cynabal, Macheriel).
- Noctis: The dream of a dedicated salvaging platform has been realized.
- Titans: AoE Doomsday was changed to a "One-shot-one-kill" weapon and their conventional weapons were buffed.
- Supercarriers: given the ability to use Fighter Bombers and stats changed to make them from a "souped up carrier" to a "WTFBQQ" capital/subcapital-killer with Ewar immunity.
- Hybrid weapons: Railguns still suck and blasters are outclassed by pulse lasers at medium range and autocannons at short range.
- Drones: They still have problems.

Things to do
- Wormholes: probable anomalies that you can enter, taking you to "Wormhole space." WH space has no local chat, no stations, no stargates, has effects that nerf/buff your ship and modules, and is home to NPC rats on steroids that deal significant omni-damage, have omni-resists, move like interceptors, and energy neutralize. Salvaging the NPCs will yield materials needed for T3 production.
- Incursions: Random constallation-wide events that slightly nerf your ship and change all the NPC rats into souped up Sansha NPCs that deal omni-damage, have omni-resists, employ Ewar, and generally act like slightly "dumbed down" players. You can enter a plex with a bunch of people and try to kill everything to earn LP from the CONCORD LP store.
0.0 Sov: Too much to write. All that can be said is that it's a clusterfuck.

Mission changes: All agents are now quality 20 as far as rewards go but -20 as far as how easy they are to access. Also we now have 3 divisions only, combat, mining and hauling :) So you know what kind of mission you get.

Also. the noctis, a dedicated salvage ship (80km tractor beams and bonus to salvagers at full skills).

on the plus side ^^ we got new tutorials that are actually USEFUL :) so do those if you dont remember all the details or just want a refreshing course.

Tbh the game has changed so much since those days its probably easier to treat it as a new game and dont hang on to ANY old ideas.

Thank you all. I have decided to do as suggested and treat this as a new game lol. Baby steps and I will get there.

Hello Aknotsdeath,

Welcome back. Smile One thing that doesn't seem to have been mentioned above: the learning skills have been removed from the game and every pilot has received some skill points in compensation. More information is available in this dev blog.

Here's some more changes to Eve.

Evelopedia was introduced as the official Eve Wiki - Players can add and edit info.

All Faction, Deadspace, Storyline and Officer items now have a special color coded symbol in the upper left corner of the item icon similar to Tech 2 items.

BPC icons are now much lighter in color than BPO icons for ease of recognition.

Along with the Agent Division change, the various LP Connection skills were condensed into 3 - Security Connections, Distribution Connections and Mining Connections.

The in-space Overview now has about 1/2 dozen different 'Default' settings instead of 2.

Various Level 5 Agents were added to the Agent pool.

7 different Epic mission arcs were added for Faction standing increase - Can be repeated every 3 months.

3 different Cosmos Agents in each Faction have a 1 time offer of a 2 run Faction ship BPC - Frigate, Cruiser and Battleship.

Players in NPC Corps now have 11% tax on Bounty and mission isk rewards.

Plus a lot of other changes.............

Good luck to you and welcome back.

So basically this is a brand new game and I have to relearn everything LOL. How are a lot of people toward new guys? I mean am I going to travel out of the started area and get killed the second I leave or are people fairly friendly toward newer players and tend to help them out? Also is being in a corporation worth looking into right away or kind of feel my way around the game before deciding?

In my experience (somewhat limited) of eve. Carebear space 0.5 or above is fairly safe, anything below is just a kill or be killed sorta place. So until I have some skills, isk and ships under my belt i'm keeping my ass outta there.

So any recommendations out there for a corporation? I like mostly PVE but some PVP is always welcome. I am looking for an active one also. I hate being the only person on. I normally play a few hours a day. I understand this may not be the place to post this but hey might as well try LOL

A few things have stayed the same:

Don't fly what you can't afford to lose

Don't trust anyone more than you have to

Watch local

Read carefully before clicking "OK"

Always be prepared to warp out.

"Just remember later that I warned against any change to jump ranges or fatigue. You earned whats coming."
