Maybe I'm blind, but I don't see the epicness of this kill. Some really dumb guy decided to transport plexes in a rookie ship, some bored ganker has scanned him, and shoot the easiest-to-kill-ship out of the sky. So this kill was a combination of dumbness (from the victim) and luck (for the ganker), but epicness...

I admit, that the Ibis death was an epic fail from its pilot. If that's the epicness, everybody is writing about, then I just got it wrong.

The fact that idiots took 34 plex or 340 BCUs in crap ships, is epic.
The fact that they got caught with their pants down, is only semi-epic.
But the fact that they did that, and got caught, and it dropped in full, that is pretty epic.
