Upcoming changes to the EVE Forums

Team Cut Offs, the driving force behind our forums and websites, have some changes coming to the forums next week.

The first thing we will do is close down the current Events & Gatherings section and replace this with two new sections, In Game Events and Gatherings and Real Life Events and Gatherings. The current forum section will go into read only mode for several weeks while players transition over threads to the new forum sections. After a grace period of three months, the old Events and Gatherings sub forum will be removed completely.

We will also introduce a new forum section called ‘Wormholes’. This new sub forum will be centered around everything related to J space. We know this is something you have been wanting for a while so enjoy!

Notifications are getting some love. As a player you will now be able to subscribe to a forum thread and get updates without having to make a post. You will also be able un-follow forum threads through the notifications. Your notification list will now also show the thread title so you can quickly determine if you want to go to that thread or not. One more small point, the notification list will also have a friendly timestamp, like: ‘Player liked your post (10 minutes ago)’

For our Japanese, German and Russian forum sections, we will be adding a new sub forum called ‘Issues and Workarounds’.

We aim to keep improving the forum experience for all players and ensuring that new functionality is available for you whenever possible.

Awesome, thanks for making one of my long time suggestions, the wormhole forum, happen.

It would be really nice if the notifications for a new post linked you to the new post, not the whole thread.

That probably expained all the breaking lately. Glad to see improvements on foundation work would like some bells and whistles eventually.

Any possible update on the search function?

For instance, if I perform a search, I will see every post related to my search even if they are a part of the same thread. I would like to be able to select a checkbox that only displays OP topics. This a possibility Team Cut Offs? =)

How about fixing the failure to post that crops up all the time as well? :D

Don't get me wrong, the draft getting saved from time to time is great (if a bit annoying with the popup), but tbh it's still just a patch over a bug, as the bug is still there. Also the draft isn't always trustworthy either. Once I restored a message from it and the last character in each row disappeared! I mean something like that is easily missed and the message can be completely different if you miss it.

I've simply taught myself to always press ctrl+a, ctrl+c every time before I post on any forum :p

When do Smaller than 10 man corps get access to forums here? And what about Alliances? When do they get forums here?

this is indeed a very good update.

dont know if anyone ever suggest this, but would it be possible when we subscribe to a forum thread to choose if we only want to receive notifications when a DEV posts in that thread?

im suggesting this because when i subscribe to a dev blog (for example) i receive notifications every time anyone posts in that thread, but if only want to read the dev´s posts (sometimes they contain valuable information that i want to be on top) i still have to search for them and go trough all players posts (that i may not want to "waste" time reading).
this way when i get a notification from that thread i know that it is a dev that is posting and that i want to go there and check because it may be important

I have been a long time supporter of the wormhole subforum, and am saddened that CCP is not adding an Incursion forum along side. :(
