Can a vengeance (frigate) survive gate guns in low sec?

176 DPS/sentry gun apparently, approximately a 1/2/2/1 damage ratio.

You tell me if you can survive.

Edit: After some EFTing, I have decided that it's not practical without Logi support. With a Logi, the buffer/resist tank would do ok. Without you need 2x A-Type Centii reppers, a C-Type EANM, and T2 rigs to top the 350ish DPS that a pair of sentries would do; not at all practical.

Right, and then you have to worry about the reason you aggro'd the gun in the first place.

Could you post up a fit? Did you speed tank?
Also, if anyone has any general experiences with sentry guns, I'd be interested.

The thing is if you are getting aggroed by gate guns, you are shooting at something.

If that something is shooting back , being able to barely tank gate guns is not gonna mean much.

Also, you can't speed tank gate guns, they have like 1rad/s tracking.

The Vengeance was dual centi c-type rep with a plate - 200mm I think. I'm not totally positive whether we had gang links in system for it, but I know I wasn't running them. The Harpy was my traditional named MSB setup, check my loss mails for that. I DID have bonuses going for the Harpy, but I don't think they were required. They're definitely required if you want to tank sentries and someone else though.

The margin for error when sentry tanking in a frigate is extremely small. You have to keep your transversal up and make sure their drones die ASAP before they chew through the EHP you're struggling to maintain. It's a lot easier if you are sharing sentry fire.

This, a thousand times.

Vanilla-fit Vengeance or Harpy have barely enough tank to survive the gate guns (if that). With extra support (boosters, gang boosts, etc) they can do it better. However in all instances they sacrifice buffer for the tank. This means that if the damage does overcome the active rep, they will fold very quickly. Sharing gate gun fire leaves most of their active tank still able to deal with enemy incoming damage.

If you need a ship that can tank gate guns plus some supplemental incoming damage, I strongly recommend the Sacrilege, the Vengeance's big brother. Even without a faction fit / boosters / gang boosts, the Sacrilege is a mean repping machine. With a faction fit, boosters, and gang boosts, it becomes nigh-unkillable.

Confirming myself that you can tank it with shared aggro with no problem in a vengeance. I had two eanm 2's, 2 c-type armor reps, a cap booster and c-type vamp.

You can gank poorly tanked frigates/industrials under gate guns with a harpy. The new resist bonus really makes it easy with a MSE+damage control (add invul (which i don't use) for even higher resists).
