I don't believe so, EVE sets itself apart from other mmo's so much I don't believe it's possible to compare it to other games. It's difficulty can be harsh to new players but that's what makes it different for most games hold your hand in the beginner levels while eve just kinda throws you out the nest and you either fly or fall. What are your thoughts?

The only games I think that EVE can be compared to are the games that CCP drew inspiration from when building the foundation for EVE; Games like David Braden & Ian Bell's Elite, for example.

Its possible to compare it to any game on the market. It will just push you to realize that pretty much every game out there doesn't hold up to eve. When I took my 2 year vacation from Eve I played a number of mmo's and in every single one I would say something along the lines of "Gee I wish this game had XX like Eve does". For the record, the only game to have what Eve does is Eve.

If more game makers would have their HQ in areas where it is too cold to live then, yes, there could be similar games. If CCP however had their HQ for example in Spain then the downtime would last for like 2-3 hours and we would not call it downtime but instead we would call it siesta. The game would play differently and it would not be as dark as it is and we had more happy stuff like rainbows in space. The reason why EVE Online is generally an unfunny game but serious space business is because everything in EVE needs to be work. For the people in Iceland who are constantly freezing is work fun. Those who do not work will freeze to death on the spot. It is the very reason why Nordic folk have been destroying stuff senselessly for millennia and why the Vikings raped and burned stuff. It keeps people warm. If we had spaceships for real the Icelanders would probably go on a spree just like their ancestors before them. Until then do they club baby seals like other club piñatas. Where it is warm do people have a lot of time on their hand to think about many things. In Iceland do people have very little thoughts about anything. They usually think "Must... keep... warm...!!!" Hence, no game is like EVE.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

Yeah, you technically could. That's called X3. Though it is a singleplayer game... Other than that, nope. I predicted 6 years ago, that there won't be a game like Eve, multiplayer wise for 8 years. 2 more years and I'll be right.

you can compare anything to anything. you can compare skyrim to eve if you want.

skyrim and eve both have tedious missions, enemies drop loot, both games have some sort of crafting system

EVE is about how fun it is to be a viking, minus the **** all women part.

It's a game suit for civilized, bored nerds who live in civlized boring countries, but it misses a lot of appeal when you live in a country where SOBs always win for real and the only way to retaliate them is to put a bomb under their car each 50 years or so.
