Sub-warp EvE uses a somewhat realistic physics system. How would you explain a gun exerting forward force like that without propelling itself backward with the "equal but opposite" amount of force?

You vent the counter force out the sides and to the reverse its how mordern guns are moving towards a recoiless systems.

Physics in space don't work like physics on a planet. :)

Air is part of the equation in creating recoil-less guns. Last I checked, space doesn't have an atmosphere.

I'm picturing in my mind a giant CO2 canister the size of a battleship...
