Players who would only join the game if this happens don't understand how the game works.

The more SP a player has, the less percentage they are making use of at any time.

Had a talk to Mystrak today in Minmatar.

First he denied everything.
Then he said he's actually his father.
Then he denied everything again.

It's actually hilarious, if you think about it.

I have no idea what's going on in his mind and i actually give him a chance of
being able to at least disturb some alliances.

It's not that weird thought processes can't produce tremendous results...

A server reset would defeat the purpose of a sandbox game where the players tell their own story.

And, as many have said, I would not be willing to redo 6+ years of training just to make some new players happy.

At this time are you able to provide us with a presentation detailing your thesis on the effects of the change, and can you provide accurate data detailing that the increase in new subscriptions will far exceed the negative effects of CCP's current loyal playerbase (preferably in graphs, I like graphs.) with absolute certainty?

In other words, can you provide citation on this claim?

Yes, my mother had always wanted to play Eve Online but she doesn't because she fears not being able to catch up with the current veterans.

CCP just have to fight game inflation to keep it fresh instead of resetting server.

For example making everything more expensive and nerfing incursion are great steps to accomplish that from economic perspective

The other thing is also gameplay inflation like sov, people conquer space settle there milk it for a while but that gets boring after a while and then what ? Nothing really to strive for.

Well in your mothers case that is just failure on your part on how to teach her properly on the mechanics of eve. You let her know that if she really wants to learn how to have a good time to just come see me and I'll schedule some 1 on 1 time in.

Imagine the reset button.
How long will it take until the first T2 ship is built? The first Station? The first Titan? How much faster would it be than the first time, with all the new tools from expansions and so much knowledge about the game. But still, all the infrastructure, all the skills would have to be rebuilt and retrained. Think of it, how much is needed to build even one Vagabond for example. Someone has to set up POSes to get moon goo, someone has to research blueprints and copy them, someone needs to grind up standings for datacore agents.

I think EVE would feel much larger and much darker again. Everything becomes more complicated, stuff cannot be moved as easily, people don't have jumpclones and jumpfreighters. PVP would become interesting as well, with everyone on one level of skillpoints. Losing a cruiser would matter again. People probably wouldn't fight meaningless battles, but instead fight over resources.

What would happen to PLEX? They would be dirt cheap compared to the current prices, but how expensive would they be for most players?

I'd really like it. Some game changes could come with it, like faster training (otherwise it would really take too long).
But obviously it would also be a reason to quit for many many people who have put thousands of hours into the current EVE and would hate to lose it. And that's the reason it won't happen. Furthermore it would as already mentioned be CCP not tilting the sandbox (as they do now) but instead throwing it over.

I don't want to get this thread locked, because I want the CCP to consider this seriously. This will drive players into Eve in the millions in hope of getting their own piece of the sandbox - the main reason people either don't play or quit after their trial is because they will never catch up with the bitter vets.

The server can't handle a million people; ergo CCP should lock this thread.

With a million people, the CCPsters are getting 15 million euros in subs each month - surely thats enough to upgrade dem servers?

Yeah... That isn't going to happen. And I would give it 6 months until the mineral market was back to where it is at now. Just around the same amount of time to get good mining, refining, and exhumer skills.

Something clever
