Eve is all about the sexy space ships and the even sweeter market and wallet windows where you see your fortune grow. I wanted to know how well dose eve look and play on 40" large format displays, and or 40" HDTV's all at 1080p, Im thinking about buying one and setup the ultimate cockpit setup, I figured Id ask the community if any one has experiences with EvE at these formats.

It's like playing EVE on a smaller monitor.

But bigger.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

I've played Eve on a 50" 1920x1080 LCOS and it looked ok, but it isn't the same as a display designed for computers.

Just make sure you can return it if it doesn't work for you.

Considering the fact that on 40" 1080p is not the native resolution ... not that interesting. I'd rather play it on an 30" monitor but with a 2k resolution. That would mean more detail, not a bigger monitor where you would just see bigger pixels.

Its nice to look at, yet its hard to function as a core screen as most text is just too small with the resolution. And to have a proper seating arrangement to control with mouse and keyboard is a pain.

Wish theyd ever gone and did virtual reality with the gloves an such like that had it in the movies. This game would be ever so more amazing like that

I run mine on a 58in @ 1440x900 and it looks amazing. I had to increase the font a little and use the new-ish UI scaling feature and set it to 110%. It is awesome.

I play EvE on a 56" TV. It looks pretty cool now that they let you make the font larger. Used to be you had to step down a few DPI just to see the characters from 6' away (I'm not sitting at a 56" monitor at normal monitor distance :P).

Sit back in the recliner, poor out a double, grab the bluetooth mouse/keyboard....shoot stuff.

It's actually pretty cool.

Used to play on a 36" monitor, then switched to 2 22"monitors ( which was WAY better for eve ) and now I'm using 2 32"monitors.

I'd say go for the 2 monitors, at 22" they are better and cheaper than 1 40" monitor.

A cheap little flexible mouse mat for the arm of the chair & something to rest your feet on so you can have the keyboard on the lap comfortable.

I don't even have a PC monitor any more.

The dot pitch of HDTVs is much higher than that of computer monitors, which doesn't matter for big moving pictures (like movies, or watching ships shoot each other), but which makes it hellish to read small text on an HDTV.

Also, computer fonts are created to be rendered on a per-pixel basis (pixel maps), and when your computer renders a 1920x1080 resolution, it assumes that each pixel will be a single dot on the resulting image. TVs have far more than 1080 pixels horizontally, which means that they put the image through a scaling process. This, again, doesn't affect moving, dynamic images, but is very detrimental to tex.t

The Eve UI Scaling feature might help, but I don't know if it's enough to make playing Eve bearable on a HDTV.

I play on a sony 42. game looks great. text can be an issue. It really depends on where you are sitting. at about 6 feet from the television I am able to play the game and read the smaller text.

if you are prone to headaches or have issues reading small text already I would advise against it.

otherwise set all the font settings to maximum and have fun.

^^ truth. if an object is moving across the screen, good luck reading any text attached to it. that said, most of the important text remains in a static position in eve.

O started off SO good... then failed SO hard... 1920 x 1080.... then you say it was more than 1080 horizontal... no ****... its 1920 x 1080...

The tv scales NOTHING if you run a 1080p tv at 1080p...

a 40inch tv is not going to look good close up... text won't be the easiest to read.

a 22inch screen at 1920x1080 has JUST as many pixels as a 40 inch at 1080p...

I tried playing it on a 42" at 1080. Text was a major issue, the screen hurt my eyes something fierce. I would not recommend it.

NOSE DIVE PULL UP, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Oh well. Now that I think about it some more, it doesn't make very much sense that a 1080p TV have more than 1080 pixels horizontally. Apparently I had a too-high opinion of TV PPI numbers.

Confusion between digital and analogue. 1920 x 1080 is a resolution, 1080p is progressive scan, In real life makes not too much difference these days and the terms seem to ne interchangeable. What some tvs do do is scan down a high def image from a computer source then rescale it. Not sure why, think it's because they can or they want people to by commercial displays instead of consumer ones.

Eve on a big screen is nice enough but just doesn't come upto scratch when compared with a dedicated monitor, though I agree with tippia, Eve in 2560x1440 is just beautiful... just waiting for 4k monitors to become generally available and realistically priced :p

I got a 42" LCD TV 120hz from a store once. I made it my computer monitor in my studio apartment, so it took up 1/3 of my living space.

I played EVE and Battlefield and it looked amazing. I also watched a lot of porn and masturbated furiously because I knew I had to return it in 2 weeks to get my full money back.

Worth it, though I ruined a lot of extra socks, but they were mismatched singles anyway so I had to get rid of them somehow.
