Its come to the point where whats the point of buying a plex for gametime with isk in game with prices reaching ridiculous cost. With rich players manipulating the market to plex for video cards which is having a major impact of plex's. Plex's a year ago were around 320mil average to now i am seeing 550mil average today. That is a 230mil increase over a year for a gametime card not anything to do with actual gameplay in-game. So in my thoughts i think either some regualtions need to come into play since this is a money transaction item in which is controlled by players or stopping the 30 day plex's in eve where no one can purchase and sell anymore.

CCP should put a cap on 30 Day Plex's or remove from game. Its becoming a pointless item and not doing as intended which, from what I can see people buying raising people buying and raising, just to make isk off of the item instead of doing as intended and giving people the option to get gametime without paying with real money for a reasonable cost. Its to the point where paying the 15 bucks for the month sub is better then in-game timecodes. Other people's thoughts?

Easy solution: Make it the same cost to buy PLEX as it is to pay for a subscription. That would fix it.

Ya well it amazes me how many are complaining in-game about it, then when it comes to forums, its like oh wait what I can't say that. I am saying something because I think timecodes should go back to old school on the eve site 60 day timecodes, putting it in-game i think just increases it to become a rip off in my opinion.

You don't remember the price of the time codes fluctuating either, huh.

While I would personally just say HTFU, CCP has said that they want to keep PLEX accessible for a lot of people who create content, but wouldn't otherwise pay to play. Therefore, while they didn't hint at any dramatic change like what you're suggesting, they have suggested that they will look to limiting the rise of PLEX prices so as to not price segments of players right out of the game. Now, this is pretty vague, but it does mean they don't want PLEX to get much worse than it is now, so there is hope if you're worried about some 1b per PLEX apocalypse.

A PLEX is currently more expensive than paying for a subscription in terms of raw $ value. It depends on how you juggle the numbers though and if you're using GTC to convert or buying PLEX from CCP or subscribing for one month at a time or 6 months or 12 months ...

Not quite sure how you see this fixing something that isn't broken though.

The market dictates the price. Don't **** the market. If you do that, you destroy it. If you can't afford to play for free using a PLEX, use your $ to buy a subscription. Once PLEX reaches the point where supply/demand has driven the prices down you can start using that again.

There's nothing wrong with the system, it's working as intended.

They've added more uses for a PLEX, but I don't see an issue with that at present.

People are still buying them in-game even at the higher prices, CCP are still selling them.

The cost of the PLEX is only at the point of sale, in-game ISK has no real currency value. So the high cost in-game is irrelevant to the 30-day offer for PLEX.

All the kids without jobs can still afford these absurdly priced PLEXes with a handful of hours running incursions.

Personally, I can pay for both of my accounts with $$ made in well under an hour of work so I just do that.

it boils down to this

either working in game to earn x amount to buy a plex is worth your time.

or working OUT of game to earn y amount to pay subscription is worth your time.

pick one

The prices will lower eventually. Now that PLEX requires more ISK to buy more people are going to buy PLEX with real cash to make some easy in-game money. As PLEX prices increase the incentive for buying PLEX with real money will also increase. As less people are able to actually pay for PLEX with in game ISK the demand will go down as the supply increases, lowering the price of PLEX.

Eventually the prices will drop. CCP intervening will only screw things up even more.

Socialism sucks. It doesn't work. Please don't bring it into my EVE.

Plus EVE is pretty cheap compared to other MMOs. You don't need to pay for expansion packs. Buying all of the WoW expansions is about 6 months worth of a subscription to the base WoW game.

Well don't you see the difference since the announcement to now, they have gone up about 55mil, not even live yet meaning people are buying up as many plex's for a video card, which is having an impact on the plex market already. 20 Plex's times 100 cards is 2000 plex's. Look at the hubs around you and you can see the plex difference or the amount of plex's that are there. So yes CCP with this offer does impact the plex market.

Man. you kids are almost sounding like CPA with no common sense.

the thing is that the market in general is player affect. Now it has gotten to the point where there are some of the mega wallet type pee brains like to mess with folks in increasing the price of things.

Drone Alloys being removed = should have no affect but people get greedy
CCP anounces 20 plex for a Video Card = YES GREAT price gouging increase
Stupid Goons and friends doing the jita burn = people are fracking paranoid

So to buy your plex in game say its 600mill for 1 plex you need to earn 20,000,000 a day for 30 days for just 1 TOON. The more accounts you have the more you spend and the more you are are logged in making isk in some fashion. I hear Null sec has space for rent so you can farm havens/sanctums and the like seeing that this is where a LARGE portion of the isk comes from within Eve. yes its true Bounty pay outs are ALOT higher then the incursion runners. maybe if the incursions are nerfed these bounties should be nerfed too

My final say on this, I like the plex system, but i think its not doing as i think was intended was to give people who dont have money in rl an opportunity to get gametime at reasonable in-game currency. Using it to buy video cards or clothing for one is just ridiculous should not be allowed, should just charge people certain amount of isk for those items. about 80% market up from a year ago something is wrong, i can understand maybe 20% maybe 30% because of economic reasons but I thik plex's are being thrown around to purchase items and not for as for what was reaslly intended which was "give player gametime." That is all off to the next whine topic.

Can you find the CCP quote that said PLEX are intended to give people who don't have money in RL an opportunity to get gametime at a reasonable in-game currency? I think PLEX were intended to counter RMT with their own version where people pay more for a PLEX than the monthly subscription rate.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

exactly, plex is a way to meet a demand that would otherwise be filled by unscrupulous RMT sites
