Clone insurance confusions

I'm sort of new to EVE, although I read about all the stuff and yadda yadda that would get me prepared for the game. However, upon remebering a corp war I was in, when my main, the one I'm using to post this was still fairly new. However, I remember I upgraded my clone early on, but when I was podded I got a clone grade alpha instead of a clone grade delta.

This is rather confusing, since everything I've found while looking for information on this subject just blabbers on about jump clones and CLONE INSURANCE and doesn't really give me any help. Basically put, how do I upgrade the clone I respawn in after being podded? Because my clone is a zeta right now, and I really o not feel like having the weeks of skill training total done for my main having to be retrained.

By the way, I understand the cloning mechanics and etcetera. What I don't understand is the point I mentioned above.

If someone could clarfy this, then thanks.

You go to a station with a medical service and click the medical service button in the upper right corner. Find a clown that suits your needs.

You would lose some SP of one skill.

If you take all the sand out of the box, only the cat poo will remain.

When you die you respawn in the clone you have purchased and are automatically given the basic 900k SP clone. This means that each time you die you must upgrade you clone again to prevent SP loss should you die again.

The big reason behind this is to "lay on the pain" to high SP players who have more versatility and ISK-making ability than low SP characters. Think of it as a "Death Tax."

For this reason, you don't need to upgrade you clone any higher than what you would need to cover your current level of SP.

P Ah, I see now. So you don't lose skillpoints, but if you die again without upgrading your clone you lose skills. Thanks. The online stuff I've found always winds this into some kind of gibberish before talking about jump clones and etcetera.

If you die again without upgrading, you would lose some skillpoints from one of your skills. Exact description here:
