I know that question sounds ******** but it's not...

A few days ago i bought a Cormorant then fitted it with 6 125mm 'scout' I accelerator cannons loaded with thorium and a fire rate increaser rig as it seemed like a balanced loadout

Started the mission
http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=WorldsCollide1guan

I warped in, avoided the starting pirates and used the gate
as i warp in i see 20~ pirates, one attacked me and with one shot got my shield to 40%

i panicked and tried to warp out but oh boy lost a ship and almost got podded.

After bitching in the rookie help channel i was shown the eve-survival site

but... thats really really ****. i mean come on!

Level 1 should indicate "beginner" why else would it have "one" when levels get harder ("five")

Yet i get my **** wrecked to find out a tier 2 ship is recommended? Thats just full on ******.

The mission journals don't explain ship so you have to rely on a 3rd party source for information? I'm trying to give the CCP my money but they just don't want it. I'm not asking for much a "cough cough you're gonna lose that ship bro cough cough" would be nice.

And the insurance system is also full on ******, i had plat insurance on my cormorant, the payout was 221,501.20isk
the cheapest cormorant in the region is 589K how in the world is insurance calculated? Im down about another mil, im just pushing money away from me faster than the CCP can lose subscribers.

If a business man walked up to you and offered to buy you a package off you for a million dollars, and all you had to do was buy the package from his partner for $100, would you trust it?

In the real world you could beat his ass for the scam, sue, etc etc

In eve all you can do is sit and whine that someone took your money

No you can't. That's assault. You can't sue him either. That was a verbal agreement. Do you have any proof? No? You're ******. Besides, he is legally allowed not to do business with you. In the real world, all you can do is sit and whine that somebody took your money.

PS wanna buy this lint off me?? I gots a friend who will buy it back from you for a lot more money...

You are caldari, right?

If you can, use caracal. If not, train for it. Then train for heavy missiles and all support skills. Get them all to at least level 3.

I dont remember fit I used for level 2 missions. After that train for drake. You'll need it for level 3 missions. Of course dont forget to train heavy missiles skills to level 4.

When you get to drake send me mail ingame and I'll give you my drake fit for lvl 4 missions. Use t1 modules instead of t2 I have.

Heh, thats the point in eve :)
Scams, ganks, market games, margin trading.
You lost 300m, most of people lost more than that, greed is your worst enemy.
I am not ashamed to say i got owned also, well a noob is a noob, seen on forums what kind of scams are going around, and i still fall for one. Got owned for some 800m.....guess i deserved that one, greed got to me :)

Anyway, few rules.
If something looks like a good way to earn money fast...dont bother, if it was legit it wouldn't be there waiting for you.
Never, EVER, read local chat in Jita :)) <- paid 800mill for this one
Read the contract carefully, then read it again...and again, after that say to yourself, if i get scammed now its my own damn fault for reading it 3 times and still not understanding it.
Dont bother with the market and dreams of becoming a trader, till ya learn how market works, and you having money to burn.

Thats what i thought because i ventured into 0.4 on a whim and lost a ship and made it back safe(my own fault for that one). then in that mission they were attacking my pod.....

The level simply gives you an idea of the kind of ship which can complete a mission (all of these being T1 ships):

Level 1 - Frigate / Destroyer
Level 2 - Cruiser (Destroyer can do all of them if you don't mind taking time to make it happen, or tier 2 frigs)
Level 3 - Battlecruiser (give or take - a good cruiser pilot can do a lot, and a battleship can activate the gates but will move around slowly)
Level 4 - Battleship or confirmed battlecruiser pilots

That's all - it's not a measure of how easy it is - this is a misconception. Some level 1 missions can be done in a frigate but they are *hard* to do in a frigate (at least for a new pilot) - worlds collide is a prime example of this.

Finally on EVE Survival - you don't need it to complete missions but it is a handy crutch at times. I really enjoy getting those missions which I've never done before - I just go there and see what happens... but I'm a bit odd like that. Also the recommendations of EVE survival are (mostly) irrelevant.

Insurance is based on the mineral cost to build the ship, not what you paid for it. Payouts used to be calculated on average market value, but when mineral prices dropped below a certain level people made money by insuring their ships and blowing them up to collect the insurance. Likewise Insurance based on what you pay would never work, because it'd take about five seconds for someone to sell their alt a frigate for 700 million, insure it and then blow it up for the payout.

Some missions of all levels are far more difficult than normal, it's vital to check eve survival before you accept it, so that you can make a reasonable judgement on whether to accept or decline and take another one.

Also could you post your fit? If one shot dropped your shields by 40% it sounds like you've not fitted the tank properly.

No, they weren't. Things happen, man. I've lost a Navy Dominix AND a Legion, because of stupid mistakes. Don't get mad because you apparently flew an untanked destroyer into a mission and got it blown out from underneath you.

Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It is beautiful. http://thegreattichim.wordpress.com/
