what's going to happen to the current R&D agent related skills?

With datacores going into FW, are R&D agents going completely bye bye?

If so, what happens to the Research Project Management skill? 2 mil SP refund? What about the different engineering skills? I trained toons in my empty character slots for the sole purpose of datacore farming, are these skills all going to be useless to me now, since I do no invention?

If SP is refunded, will it be transferable from one toon to another on the same account? Once again, these extra characters will become nearly useless to me if this datacore system is removed entirely.

I'm 100% fine with passive income sources being nerfed or removed, but I put ~5 mil SP into each of these extra characters; it'd be kinda nice to have that usable in some form.

Whaaaattttt !? where you saw that ? is this some troll ??? >.>

i really hope ccp doesn't restrict that in that way, because you train for a long time for something, and then ccp makes it useless all the time you spent training something that you can't use anymore in that model, making you waste time and money.

i'm sick and tiered of ccp coming up with stuff to make me waste time, training useless skills, and then nerfing that activity that i trained, to nothing. might as well do nothing, because they nerfed that c**p in the end to utterly useless.

OP heard datacores will possibly be purchasable via FW and is assuming they will be removed from agents for some reason.

OP should avoid jumping to unfounded conclusions.

I heard it was being reduced not removed completely, and that FW would be another source of data cores.

As for the skills, they still have a use in invention so no they will probably not get refunded if the R&D agents did kick the can. Though Research Project Management is of course the execption to this. So maybe just that skill.

And this is all hearsay no point in jumping to conclusions yet.

I lied :o

In an interview, someone from CCP said "cash out now" when talking about datacores.

Soundwave interview Maybe I should have included this up top.

I guess the real question is, are all datacores, or only racial starship cores going to FW?

The impression I got from the interview was all datacore's would be changed, however restricting it to just racial starship engineering does sound a lot easier to implement, although I do hope that isn't the case.

I can't see the skills being refunded as the R&D agents will remain in game doing what they are doing, CCP are considering increasing the lp cost of datacores and seeding them via fw as well. The dev did explicitly say 'cash out now'; I would imagine a great many have done so already.

they will have to give something back. While I can see the idea they have in mind, more people in fw or at least being social in an mmo...this idea shuts out 3 groups of people who are in fact already playing "endgame" content in eve. Pirates, 0.0 types and WH'ers.

CCP wants more in FW, so they are moving the cores as they thinking that will make it happen. WH'er or 0.0 corp person basically has skills that will never be useful again. They have found homes in 0.0 or a wh....they can't leave to join FW to use those skills. Its not they are risk averse carebears losing free isk. Its that they are too involved already in playing eve like an mmo right now lol. Mittens jsut can't jsut up and leave goons to go fw. When unbanned...kind of has a major entity to lead for example.

And well pirates get screwed as techically they are a part of FW, they make it so the FW lp spammers lose ships once in while. A checks and balance if you will since by some reports if not for pirates...some fw types would not meet anything bad in low sec more often than not lol. well that an months into the pirate life thier standings go to utter ****. Couldn't even join fw if they wanted too.

This whole datacore thing sounds like part of the plan outline last year. Apparently CCP has decided that High-Sec is to be predominantly T1, while Low-Sec/null means T2, and W-Space gets T3. Moving datacores out to FW is probably just a shot across the bow to High-Sec industry and we'll be seeing other barriers erected that push Invention and T2 production to more dangerous areas.
