Advice for a returning player

After several month's I thought I would give EVE another shot...

I am still fairly noob, even though my first account was made back in 2007 - I have always stuck with mining, but I would like to get in to some form of corp, looking at doing all kinds of things...

But the reason for this post, is for just general advice on what to do as a returning player

I am currently flying a tengu (and currently training some skills for exploration)

Any advice, would be great advice... :D

1. Achieve a higher level of grammar.
2. Send me 15% of the isk you make monthly, to compensate for having spent my time giving you advice.

~Badposter since FOOOOREEEEEVAAAAAR~ I come back after 2 years to THIS? ~Now 4 years apparently

1. Ignore forum trolls
2. Join a great corp.

IMHO, if you're not playing with a corp, you're not really playing EVE

That's the idea - I have played solo for years (that I found actually pretty boring, but the money I was making was decent), with the odd 2 or 3 extra people coming in and helping out

Get into an expensive ship, lose it to 13 year olds or middle aged men with to much falcon exp, realize the error of your ways, no longer be a noob. Not in any specific order... But you know.

Something clever

Don't listen people on forum :P Every forum is full of trolls, whiners and nerfbabies :) People in game give much better impression.

T'Elk don't understand that only in Europe there is 23 official languages and around 230 spoken languages. So not everyone must be perfect at English.

Don't spend your time on mining at the beginning. I did it (because some forum kid give me this "advice") and I got bored of EVE very fast. First mining, then some mission and... then you are out playing Battlefield because for normal people - games should provide FUN.

Find and join active corp. Corp when there are PEOPLE THAT ARE ONLINE (no 100 offliners with 3 people playing top), people that HELP EACH OTHER (money, resources, help in missions and in-guild events) and TALK to each other (so you can learn from them).

Have fun. If you are bored with something, try something else. When I was bored with missions I started exploration. Then some mining. Then some crafting and other stuff. And best part - ALWAYS WITH COMPANION. Trust me - even most stupid sitting on asteroids for a while is fun when you have 2-3 people around you :)

Don't rush with ships. I created this character 5 months ago but I didn't have time to play (big project came that took all my time). I started playing recently. In few days I'm able to fly Drake. And I have around 160m so I can buy Drake. I don't fly Drake. Why ? Because I can't put on him best equipment ever and I'm still at lvl 1 missions :D
Decide what you want to do and focus your skill training there so you can get there faster. Then try with other stuff. But don't rush. In EVE I learned long ago - bigger ship don't give you advantage.

Play MMO like MMO. With other people. Playing solo will get you nowhere and will get you bored very fast. EVE is not solo oriented.

1st advice, don´t loose that Tengu. Lol

OP, you have manged to enter during a very tumultuous time in EVE.
The market prices are currently going haywire due to the expected changes, and various egos are about to go supernova due to imagined (or not) slights by the EVE demi gods in CCP headquarters.

Grab the popcorn, sit back and watch while you loot all the things. Bear

As for going solo, don´t. EVE University sounds like the perfect place for you, for now.
Or one of the Incursion corps. Your Tengu should give you a good chance of getting accepted. Check the Mission forum.

Find a good corporation with players who know what they are doing and don't suck. Get in Ventrillo or Teamspeak or whatever with them and get involved. Make friends and ask questions. Learn. Go PvP, Mission, Mine and Rat. Blow **** up.

Bounties for all! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2279821#post2279821
