Skill training - Caldari Battleships 3 (does it matter?)

Okay so I have been looking around and can't find an answer to this question...
Say I wanted to fly a Raven I need "Caldari Battleships" trained to level 2 but if I trained it to 3 does that change anything?
In EFT it shows and increase in DPS and I believe this to be affecting the 10% increase in velocity and 5% increase in Rate of fire is this valid or is it just for training to things like Marauders etc?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer this :)

It's an increase for each lvl trained in caldari battleship skill, so for any module/ship/what ever 10% per lvl is exactly that ie. max of 50% increase at lvl V.

If you do not know how ship skill bonuses work you probably should not be flying a battleship.

Just saying.

cheers for the useless and demeaning response, if no one asked no one would learn. Stop being so pretentious!

if you like the numbers in eft...train it. If not, don't. Not really a question with just one right answer.

Your only universally accepted answer is the same answer to most skills in eve....a skill worth training, is worth training to 4.

If you have any pvp aspirations....4 is your minimum ship skill level for many crews. In additiont to that for Caldari pvp this is your range, skill level 4 is not a question you ask, its a no brainer.

Sadly, as pretentious as you think this is, it's actually good advice. There are a lot of interesting systems in the game that can take some time to get a handle on. The Raven being a Cruise/Torpedo boat means that while you see really big DPS numbers in EFT they're really only effective against Battleships.

There's a system for missiles that compare Explosion radius to the signature size of the ship you are hitting. Because Torpedoes and Cruise Missiles have huge Explosions radius (with Torpedoes being about 50% worse than cruise) you'll rarely get full damage on anything. Not to mention the explosion velocity reduction. I.E. you try to hit a frigate with the weapon systems on a Raven you might as well be throwing pebbles out the window.

That's just one system that you should understand. The next most important system is that it works in reverse as well, stuff shooting you will do more damage and since you're likely to be slower they'll hit more often as well. So while you see a 10k buffer tank, you'll be surprised how fast that goes if you aren't ready for it even though you have a higher defense reating in EFT than your last ship. There's a reason that "EFT Warrioring" is considered a derogatory term here and it's specifically for people that pull out EFT numbers as the most important factor in an argument comparing two ships.

My advice to you would largely be the same as Aebe's. Work into a battle ship slowly, I'm finally flying one on my main and it took a year to get into it propperly. While I could have focused a bit more, the experience I got along the way has allowed me to keep it. As this character is for Research I doubt she'll ever fly one as even after the upcoming nerf, since Drakes are still REALLY good.

In general I like to bring everything up to at least lv4 that I use, lv3 is what I train up so for just testing purposes as it generally takes no more than a day for most things and give you a better grasp of things. LV5 skills are for things I use often, such as my primary ships, which for someone like me who generally specializes in sub BS size ships is quite easy. As something like cruiser V x race will give me that races cruiser, HACs, BC's, Command Ships, etc with my skills. So keep in mind skills generally aren't wasted as often times you will end up using them again for something else latter down the line. Which is something I learned from experience.

Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to scam you or use you.

Caldari Navy Scorpion, Rattlesnake +5% shield resists per Caldari Battleship level

I'd say that would be worth it.

It's apple pie all the way down.
