It's highly likely that CCP will tap into and allow the EvE industrial base to get in on the action of building what is likely to be a galaxy of hulls, modules, and components. This will add more items to the industrial base than every expansion of EvE online combined, the volume needed for an FPS community that will likely be in the millions of accounts will dwarf the scale of any player run industrial operation to date. Takeaway: Start thinking big, industrialists.

I don't see any evidence or devs saying that the Dust equipment with be Eve built, or that even Dust player built for that matter. Where is your source?

Its more likely that Dust Equipement will start out NPC built until the devs see how the players utilize the equipment. Can you image a bunch of PS3 players loggin in for the first time to see that a tank cost 900mil isk? (set by some Eve player). How will they price shop? Will they travel to Jita for the best prices?

They are likely to have a tight control on the equipment prices for the foreseeble future.

You really think EVE players would scam Dust players?
Next you are going to go accusing people of manipulating mineral prices.

I wouldn't think you'd even have to do that. Repping a war targets ship (I believe) would make them shootable by you, I don't see why a POS would be any different.

Yeah, I think Ranger is correct. However Greyscale has yet to come down from the mountain with any stone tablets, calf of speculation rules for the moment.

I predict that the day after the expansion is released:

  • Exploration will be broken
  • Invention will be broken

  • Drone poo still dropping on Test Server (rojected release - 2 weeks)
  • No BPO's for Dust stuff on Test server (Projected release - 2 months)

  • Anything we can plan for or stock up for they won't reveal.

I do think the inflation we are seeing is manipulation tied to Dust and potential ISK faucets Dust might put in to EVE. Making it OK to pay 225 for an Abaddon. Of course, again we can't be sure what these ISK faucets will require from us so when boots hit the ground, the rich will get richer and the poor will be left with scraps.

Another question is: Will any of the new ship balancing make it into Inferno?
    T1 frigates or cruisers maybe?

If CCP wants to make a bigger splash with each expansion, they should release a new soundtrack with each expansion.
Make the soundtrack evocative of the themes of the expansion, then use it in the trailer and expansion advertising.
Then add it to the in-game soundtracks.
Great for marketing and adding to the soundtracks would actually be an actual feature as well!
Also, how come all the soundtracks of previous EVE trailers are not in the EVE in-game soundtrack?
EVE is doing great with the eye candy, why not improve the ear candy as well to make it even a greater draw.

lol the expansion being light on content.

Ask the goons and CCP, because they'll deliver plenty.

Escalation patch ? Goons will burn Jita.
After that ? Hulkaggeddon V (supposedly, i guess)
And who knows what they have in mind for Inferno and later on.

I see plenty of content coming up ... CCP is laying the ground already. :)

I hate that people are calling it 'light on content'. CCP are finally going back and working on old content, which is long overdue. For too long CCP has been rolling out expansions that are 'content heavy' and not working on old content that most definitely needed work (IE. factional warfare). CCP is now taking a step backing and fixing what needs fixing. Don't call that light on content. Call that awesome.

There is loot! It comes in two different types but that's about as far as CCP went mentioning also special materials for crafting special things

    Source two: Here (NID Blog)
    Quote:
Getting access to these more advanced items and vehicles will require players to jump into the persistent world nature of the game, as they will be unlockable via special craftable recipes, with materials gained from controlling districts in the persistent EVE Universe. There are also plans to implement "Agent Missions," where players will engage in PvE fights against rogue drones, with crafting loot dropping from those endeavors. Brandon noted that, while the team ultimately wants to have a completely player-run economy, they obviously won't be able to do that at launch, so they'll be starting with NPCs that supply equipment, and then CCP plans to "move from there."

Source three: Here (the escapist magazine)
    Quote:
The Isk that flows in the game's economy is the same currency from the online game with items from Dust existing on the markets in Eve and being crafted in that universe as well. This allows for some of the same player-driven interaction that exists in Eve. Imagine, for instance, an Eve corporation hoarding missile launchers and instead releasing tons of vehicles. Then once the battle areas are flooded with tanks they can make a killing on selling the weapons to defeat them. However, NPCs will also seed the market to a degree to keep such activities somewhat in check; the stated ideal was to have the two games enhance each other, not detract. The future vision is even to allow for mercenaries to travel up to the stations and interact with Eve players directly, settling the deals over a Quafe in the station's bar

This is an obvious troll... I'm quoting it because it also happens to be the entire point of having a sandbox type game and hits the nail right on the head when it comes to content that matters.

I will be unhappy if I don't see some kind of Missile-Balancing going on in Inferno.

They did it with Hybrids, now they need to rebalance Torpedoes, Cruise Missiles and Light Missiles.

Here's what I want to see in Inferno: VETERAN SUB-CAPITAL SHIPS.

Capitals don't excite me. Supercapitals are only good for hijacking and quick resale; they're boring to fly, and quite pointless to fly in a small organization such as mine.

If I got the best sub-capital ship presently available (State Raven, estamel-equivalent fit) it would take 3-4 people in t1 battleships to drop me. That... kinda sucks.

I have 130+ million SP. At any given time I am using about 40 million, with the rest going un-used. Versatility is not enough of a selling point. I'm afraid those are called capitals.

Superships costing 15b of T2 components and packing the punch/EHP of a carrier, while being BS-sized, COULD be somewhat balanced, perhaps.

They'd need to be heavily countered by capitals, though. Or something else.

Well, CCP has expressed interest in a glass cannon / oversized gun type battleship class, and new EW and other classes of caps, so I would bet we will see lots of new ships soon, and several classes aimed at vets.
