There are some obvious spikes in turnover, which is a good indication that speculators are buying up minerals.

With the potential nerfs to drone minerals, and nerfs to module drops, the sky's the limit on mineral prices.

And there seem to be a lot less miners around lately.

I wonder if Isogen could be the next mineral to spike..

According to my calculator it is more profitable to mine veldspar than to mine omber and kernite and veldspar is far more common..

The oretypes that contain isogen are far less valuable than any other so why should people keep mining isogen?

The way the market balances it self is:
1. something is valuable -> people go after it -> creates high supply of it -> Price of that thing goes down -> people move to other things.
2. something is not collected (like isogen) -> creates high demand -> price of that thing goes up -> people move to get this(thise) things.

Players having too much money is one of the prime factors for the inflation. So, if you are against inflation then you should be on their side.

It only adds to the inflation if the isk is in circulation. In a real world environment money would be in a bank account and actually used by the bank. In EVE isk sits in wallets and the players you are describing sit on it and add nothing to the inflation effect.

The whole concept of inflation and scarcity is pretty unnecessary (edit, silly sounds better) in this game really. There is no limit on ISK, if somebody somehow manages to steal every last .01 ISK from players at once, all we need to do is missions or kill some rats and tada... we have money again. Money is produced out of thin air, and it disappears into thin air, all that happens in-between is imaginary anyway.

A system that I frequent for missions is a ice mining bot hangout; it has a constant and endless stream of bumper-to-bumper Mackinaws undocking. Pilots with similar names, or names with randomly typed characters.

Last evening I was quite surprised to find the system virtually empty. There were still a few miners, the legit ones I suspect, but the endless stream of Mackinaws was replaced with the occasional undocking of one or two Mackinaws. I can only guess that this is a result of CCP's automated daily banning.

I wonder if the seemingly legit miners will be able to pick-up the slack, or if not, how long stocks not currently on the market will hold until prices reach import levels.

LOL CCP don't really do **** about bots unless its RMT. High sec Ice bots only concern is suciders so thank your local griefer not ccp.

Considering the large improvement in the ppu for about every mineral on the market, good players can determine when its smart to take a hulk out to mine or a covetor. I would have to say that people who can afford to make enough profit before they face the threat of a suicide gank usually will buy a new hulk and reship. One hulk costs about 10x more than a covetor, (240 mil vs 24 mil) so it's a matter of economics.

in two a small ways - speculators bank that the banning will have a great impact and buy up minerals quickly.. and some minerals were actually removed from the market creating a vaccum. there are greater forces at work right now causing prices to rise however.
