I played that game like 7 years ago, and it was fun the first month. After that it is just to babysit your fleet everyday from the big guys and their "recycle" fleets. And pray you don't have a moon close to your home base...

I finished my adventure in that game smashing my 2500 battleship fleet into one of my alliance mates homeplanets so he could recycle it because I just got fed up of the cat and mice play with all the big ones.
