Well i was bashing the button often enough, but it kept saying i had to wait a little longer.

- without aggro you only need to wait for 10 seconds ("session change" timer) after undock. Then you can dock back.
- after undock you have like 20 seconds of invulnerability (allowing you to load grid and prepare yourself). This invulnerability stops once you activate any module or start warp. Stopping ship (Ctrl-Space) does not finish invulnerability timer (here i can be wrong).

Summarize this 2 things and you have plan how to survive next time ;)

You aren't. That's the way it works (last tested in a practical situation four days ago ;)).

Second rule of pvp. Someone doesn't attack you unless they think they can win. If they think they can win, they are probably right.

So if someone attacks me, unless I look at the ship and know I can take it before any friends can assist, I flee. It's simple prudence.

What you should have done different was redock.

1v1 pvp is like 1v1 murder. Because Eve mimics life, and when you attack someone, they call for help right? No different in eve. Every once in a while you might find someone willing to fight to the death in private one on one. I wouldn't trustt that person though.

Several things.

1) Instant Undocks.
2) If you don't have (1) use [ctrl]+[spacebar] after undocking (you will still be untargettable if all you do is [ctrl]+[spacebar]) and redock.
3) It wasn't your undersized missiles that got the machariel down to low hp, it was the station guns.
4) If you cant fit the proper weapon systems (BS missiles in your case), you shouldn't be flying it.
5) If you can't at least fit the proper T2 weapon systems, you shouldn't be flying a shiny faction ship that uses said weapon system.
