I’m not a fan of role playing. I mean the lore loving, olde English speaking, socially inept, forever single type of role playing but I do like the rationalization behind my game to be sound. Eve, being a science fiction based game demands more believable back story since it is based on reality and not magic!

So when they had to explain how you survive dying….WTF were they thinking!

I’m in a pod of jelly and if I get killed the pod detects the exact moment before my brain shuts down, records a copy of my consciousness, injects me with a lethal injection then sends my recorded consciousness to a space station where a cadaver….I fkin cadaver! Which looks just like me has my consciousness uploaded to it and here I am. Alive and well in some other tvats body.

I must say of all the explanations in space MMOs so far I find EVEs solution the most plausible sounding. Aside from the fact that it is kewl!

But if you want true realism, go to STO. Your ship pops up there, you don't even get into a clone... You just respawn at full health right on scene in the very same ship! :) That technology is easily explained (time loop, Q and parallel universe saving your lower back I guess?)

you arrive in a clone of your own body not some other "tvats" body

but to quote white tree

lol the mere thought of cloning in a game where we all warp, jump, and shoot each other in vitrual spaceships is utterly preposterous Roll

Everytime you buy something that says "made in china" you are helping the rising unemployment in your own country unless you are from china, Buy locally produced goods and help create more jobs.

Quoted from eve wikki

What happens in the game world when a character gets killed?
In the world of EVE Online, if your character dies, he or she dies in a pod. A pod is a metallic egg developed by the Jovians that can warp and use jump gates. If the pod is breached, your character has no hope of survival, so a device in the pod takes a "snapshot" of your character's mind while another device injects your character with a poison that kills the character instantly. Then your character's mind is transferred to a clone and can keep on living.

Clones are typically created from cadavers that have similar physical characteristics to your original body. Their DNA is replaced with your DNA, and their bodies are cosmetically altered to look like you.

Doh. I always thought that clones where created from cell samples and where grown out at an accelerated pace from a zygote until their development matched that of the original body (much as real world cloning goes, just without a need to wait for years until the clone is grown-up). The idea of being a reanimated corpse taken over by a culture of my cells (kind of a hi-tech zombie) makes death quite unappealing and disturbing... I was happier to not know that, really. What?

Depends on what you're doing, in some cases adults can play with food too. Of course in those cases children are definitely not allowed. Cool

Cloning, the death process, and the POD, are all very well covered in the lore. You should see how other games explain death...

Something clever
