EVE economics, care bears, pirates

Being a bit high on pain killers my mind wanders a bit, but I’m sure you all will understand what I’m saying.

The company that makes this game is a business, and they are in the business of making a profit. Without profits, well, then we have no game to play.

It is a well-known that casual gamers (and for the most part, the care bears are casual gamers) are the DOMINANT population in the MMO community.

Also, those with the loudest voice are not always the majority. It is also a well-known that casual players for the most part, do not bother with msg boards/forums. Sony Entertainment learned this lesson the hard way, by listening to the loudest voice (the raiders had the loudest voice, but were most definatly in the minority); Blizzard learned the lesson and made a game tailored to casual gamers, now they are a profitable business.

The game long term survivability depends upon subscriptions. How many players have been lost due to uncontrolled piracy. This game will NOT survive unless new players join the game and stay at a rate equal to or exceeding the rate that players retire from the game.

For the continued long term survival of the game, there must be a “safe haven” for the care bears. They will be the ones that form the BULK of the subscription base. With increased profits, then the company that makes this game can use those profits to add more content, expand the game, improve performance, ect ect

Im not saying no pvp, but I am saying that the poorly controlled PVP piracy in high sec has driven players away and has negatively affected the profit potential of the company and the potential growth /expansion of the game.

Or, was yours the first "reading comprehension-challenged" response?

There's no reason in the world why the five major types of play in EVE can't continue unabated. The place is big enough with room to spare. Calling yourself a "ganker" probably makes you feel pretty cool. But, people who "gank" have been with us since we came out of the trees. There's no special talent to it. Find someone who can't defend themselves and torture them to feel some internal gratification that resonates like the Beevis and Butthead snigger. We dealt with them then...just yank a knot in the top of their heads, and keep an eye on them. If they continue...well, it's not a pretty sight, but for the greater good, and nobody was cryin' at the "loss". So, these morons found a place on the internet where they can "virtually" do it, get their snigger, and nobody can smack 'em upside the head. Whoopteedoo. Let me know when you think of something new.

The crime/punishment dynamic of EVE does much to if not prevent this sort of perennial turd in the punchbowl, make them pay for doing it. But, it can do much more. If CCP likes its money, when it errs, it best err on the side of the credit card. When we "play" we're supposed to be having "FUN." Gankers may be having their poor excuse for fun, but it's obviously one-sided. If they're ten percent of the population, it's a ten percent CCP can indeed do without. (Gankers have a hard time with math. They can't comprehend one person driving ten people to finding something else to do. Those ten telling a friend who has it all their way here, making 20 who don't pay, while the ganker pays in PLEX.) This isn't difficult to understand...unless you're a ganker, and those people don't understand much anyway. You'll be able to tell by their eloquent responses on this thread...hint, hint.

The main question is: Why aren't gankers out in low and null sec attacking people that can ably fight back? That's obvious enough, too. They're CHICKEN. They suck at the game, and they'd have their @$$3$ handed to them by people who actually KNOW how to fight, and win. They'd rather pad a killboard for their adolescently-minded buddies to gurgle over. Considering they can't get dates, and have nothing to brag about in that arena, you can see why this is a big deal to them, of course. If you want to GANK somebody, please...man up and gank somebody in Bosena, or Amamake. Those who know don't have to say, those who don't say "Huh? Wha?"

Hi / Lo / Null There's plenty of people doing what you like to do. Go do it with them and put some real challenge in your life. OR, pick on defenseless n00bs and be seen as the Beavis and Buttheads you are. We all make choices in life.

CCP needs to choose either money, or sophomoric behavior. So far, they've proven to be pretty sophmoric themselves.

CCP have both made a profit and continued to grow for a decade. What was your point again?

/thread

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

But there is a safe haven for the care bears... it's called a space station. Guaranteed 100% safe.

If you READ the forums, you'd have READ that this "TOON" (sin sin) is a trading toon that uses jumpclones to traverse the universe to PVP on the market. This TOON hasn't been in a ship in two years. "Safe" place to carebear? Get a clue.

I do notice there's not much argument on the actual POINT of the post.

My "other" toon is an Amarrian badass. BUT, he don't GANK. He fights people that can fight BACK. Carebear.
Guess again.

Lets hypotheticaly say that they ban all ganking in empire space, and all the "gankers" quit"

what percentage of the game population would quit?

i figure there are a few catagories
a) the highsec industrialists/miners/mission runners/carebears
b) the low sec pvpers
c) the null-sec empire builders
d) the gankers

i think gankers possibly make up less then 2% of the player population
we loose that 2%, we could gain 10%?? or more ??

The bulk will quit because this would no longer be EVE.

Like anywhere else, they'd be no loss. Like they have to be, they'll be making themselves look BIGGER than they really are, too!

And here all in one place we find the definition of a carebear, why people gank them and why their tears are so hilarious.

Hint: CCP tried spending all their money and energy towards "Carebears" and had to fire 20% of their employees and almost died in a fire. CCP announces a war and pvp themed expansion and subscriptions broke records.

Putting the law into the hands of the populace, well expressed by a few on these forums, will help. Crimewatch 2 is a step in this direction.

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.  - William Pitt

Yeah, you look bigger than you really are! Hoo haw. Mind spinning that lie a bit more LOOSELY...carebears caused 20% of CCP to lose their jobs you say? Mighty mighty!
