War Dec purpose

Just curious about the current War Dec changes they may be implimenting- Dec Changes

Does anyone have any examples of what they have won or gained through using the wardec mechanic in high sec?

For example, have there been 2 corps that went to war over something in particular in high sec and one has ended up winning something?

I think that the changes need to focus on the purpose of having a wardec mechanic (other than bringing PvP to high sec). There needs to be something real and solid for the winner to gain and something for the loser to lose.

Your thoughts?

I'm thinking that most have gained only jollies in high sec wardec'ing... More to gain from ganking than a "legal" war. I've always thought high sec wardecs were purely for griefing purposes anyway outside of FW.

doesn't happen..
wardecs in highsec are just a means to extort non pvp players or pad killboards.
im sure once in a million years a moon is taken or something but noting in highsec is really worth taking.

Truth. Resources are currently too abundant to put any real meaning into PvP beyond getting your rocks off. It's a shame. That goes for highsec, lowsec, and nullsec too. Wormholes, thankfully, are a bit different.

Whether or not you win the game matters not.  It's if you bought it.

Wardecs also serve you in lowsec, because they remove gate gun interference, which changes tactics and allows for more evil stuff. They also remove security hits from shooting POSes, which tend to otherwise be terrible. What have I gained from wardecs (partly stealing Reppyk's answers)

loot
pride
reputation
more wars (often for free!)
new friends and enemies
broken towers
places to put our own POCOs in
pirates moving out (rare, but happens)
fun explosions

High security space wars have been my bread and butter for a number of years now. I have lived in low security space and null sec as well, but they did not offer me the challenges or rewards I was seeking. Those people who deride highsec pirates as griefers that should move to nullsec for real pvp have no idea what they are talking about. Nullsec pvp requires little to no skill, and is almost always fought on stargates. It becomes quite monotonous after a time.
I have earned a modest living ransoming carebear corporations in high security space, and have had a lot of great pvp in the process. sometimes I have lost and sometimes I have won, but it is always varied.
I found there is real skill in coming up against a fleet of determined rookie pvp pilots in heavily overpowered ships. If you screw up for just one second they will have you, its not as simple as the "griefing" label makes out.

What has kept me playing eve is the risk and reward offered. The rise of dec shield has severely affected my gameplay. Now these proposed changes I feel will simply cause me and many like me to stop playing.

Already CCP is wringing its hands at the "problem" of too much ISK in the economy now. They have allowed the carebears to avoid loss more and more consistantly and now their meddling has come home to roost.

I am saddened to leave eve as it has been fantastic, but if I am in the minority, then the problem is mine.

It also forcibly removes fail-corporations from the game that only suck in clueless newbies and leave them to wither whenever there's a bump in the road.
