According to this article, it's going to be heavily based off of Elite, which is also an ancestor of Eve.

From the official site he's got a pretty long ambitious list, one of which includes atmospheric flight and landing on planets from space. Has Eve finally found a viable competitor? The communities are pretty distinct though, however there's a lot of crossover. I assume that most will just end up playing both.

Thoughts?

Amazing, you typed almost the exact same paragraph as the guy in GD who posted a similar thread.

I'm not dogging you, I mean you at least put it in the right sub forum, I'm just wondering why people think a company that made a 8 bit game is going to be competition for CCP. From what I gather so far this game is going to be minecraft in space with the Technic pack and Zeppelin mod.

Do you smell what the Lock's cooking?

I'm not sure your assumptions that everyone thinks this will be a serious competitor to Eve are correct or even based on any sort of logic.
