US politics and I dont exactly get the back drop implication of the comic other than hillgill 2016 suggests that hillary may try to run again in 2016 but meh world ends in 2012.

I presume "Mittens" is actually in reference to Mitt Romney, but as a true EVE geek, the first thing I thought of when I saw it was the nickname for The Mittani.
