Hi Guys, I am hoping to begin exploring soon in my Cheetah but before I get fried in low sec can you tell me how cloaked I will actually be, will I be totally 100% invisible/undetectable while cloaked or not?

Thank you.

You'll get uncloaked if within 2km of another uncloaked entity (ship, drone, station, container, probe, etc). Other than that you're completely undetectable while cloaked.

when you are not in a wormhole, people still know that you are in the system because they see you in local chat, otherwise you are completely invisible until you turn off the cloak or bump into something.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Would he show on d scan when cloaked?

Your ship's model is actually faintly visible, as you may have noticed, but the chance of anyone spotting it is astronomically small.

You won't show up on any scan, or on anyone's overview, and can't be targeted.

However, you DO show up in the local chat channel, and stargates do show a cycling animation when someone goes through them, so if someone camping a gate sees it cycle and you pop up in local, they know you're rather close to them. It isn't such a big deal in lowsec, but in nullsec it sometimes means you'll be getting bubbled in short order.

If you're a first-time covops user, bear in mind that if you're using this ship to scan sigs down, DO NOT WARP TO ZERO! Cosmic sigs will frequently have asteroids, beacons, debris or other general space crap within 2km of the warp-in point, meaning you will be immediately de-cloaked when you warp in! I found this out the hard way when I was doing a bit of poking around in a wormhole. Thank god class 1's don't warp scramble; I made it out in structure after two hits. Since then, I always warp to 100km.

That's only true for your own ship.

When you activate the cloak, you'll see your ship cloaking up for about one second, then it's gone. You will be on the overview and dscan of other clients for one-two seconds more. Remember that when you activate the acceleration gate into someone's mission. If it's less than 8000km he will see you blip on his overview for a split second - in which case its better to A) slowboat to the acceleration gate until you reach >2000m-2500m<. Then activate it so you stay cloaked. B) Leave the cloak inactive and bum rush your target with your point overheated. This client-client delay is probably due to the client-server ping x 2, not much to do about it.
