CCP changed the Orca's thruster color, but textures are still the old ones right?

I sure hope that there's V3 stuff coming, because it does look bad.

Unless the Orca is classified as a capital, and they will do it when they get to freighters, carriers, rorquals etc.

clarify?

The Orca is a late design, it'll probably see some love either next time the mining barges do, or with the DX11 update in a year or two.

Not a whole lot of ships added to the game since then, eh?

I'd like to see it reskinned, too, but I just don't see it happening any time soon.

Meh why can't they just bring every ship in line with V3 and insist on having new stuff and old stuff. That's just plain ******** plannng.

Wait, the Rorqual is staying the same as well? FFS

I figure it's to stop people saying 'Why aren't you doing any graphics upgrades?' or 'where are all those V3 things you've been talking about'. After all, I doubt they're just doing a few, then putting the whole thing on a backburner for a few months. Slow burn to get them all done.

Woo! CSM XI!

It looks fantastic i don't even know what you're talking about. And if it bothers you so much, don't look at it, you feckin' fairy.

That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.

Fwiw, the patch notes a couple of patches back did say soemthing along the lines of "coding change: thrusters + ship trails will now represent their racial colour".

Now with the Orca, although ORE is technically a Gallente company, I wouldn't be suprised if it's been changed to Minmatar to be line with the thrusters of the mining barges.

Edit:

Besides, if there's any engine trails you need to moan about, it's the Deimos. It has lost it's very distinctive green trails and gone to the current standard Gallente aqua/surf colour.

Changing the thruster color of a ship is pretty much a matter of changing the effect ID for thruster color in the ships's database of properties.

Be patient, cupcake. They'll all get there. The process of V3'ing a given ship isn't a simple wave of some magic wand. There are lots of models they have to go through individually, by hand, and this includes all NPC variants of the ships, not just the ones we can actually fly. This task must also be done concurrently with the all the other projects going on at the same time.

Huh.

Just checked ingame. ORE are classed as Gallente.

Which means that:
Quote:

  • All ORE ships now have the correct factional engine trails.
  • Ships will now inherit the correct engine trail color from their race type.

From the 1.5 Patchnotes is actually completely incorrect as ORE ships are using oranage Minmatar colours when they should all be aqua.

I just hope Orca and Rorqual textures get redone as V3.

I can live with the horrible minmatar junk engine trails, as long as the rest of the ship is V3 aka textures of the year 2012

How are ORE ships gallente? They're their own faction, not part of the gallente federation. Their sov space is out in nullsec, not in gallente space, though it isn't far from it. The lore says that ORE was originally part of the Gallente Federation, but left.

Well Gallente, in the way that they are ex-federation, lore-wise they have strong ties with gallente, and their ships having similar technology and design techniques as gallente ships (e.g rorqual uses oxygen isotopes like the anshar).

There IS a connection.

Hi there,

I was so suprised when CCP changed the background and engine color for Orca.
As the ship description says:
"The Orca was developed as a joint venture between Outer Ring Excavations and Deep Core Mining Inc ..." and
"...The Orca uses much of the technology developed by ORE for the Rorqual and integrated with the latest advancements from Deep Core Mining research division... "
So it isn't pure Gallente at all, most likely half Gallente/half Caldari.
The ship's design more like Caldari then Gallente, so i think the blue background and engine fit better to this ship.

My 2 cents.

PS: Since then ii's harder to find my Orca in my hangar. :)
