What do you all mean by "intellectuals" ? I mean, I would have come with scientific names, and scholars. What makes Gariushi-haan an intellectual for example ? I am asking this without any irony, but just out of curiosity.

Thank you for the excellent question. An intellectual, such as Gariushi-haan, is a person who uses intellect in either a professional or an individual capacity. This was the starting point of this work.

Very well, if I play a bit with the parameters (the beta and sigma parameters), it seems that Mssr. Gariushi can come up as the tenth name. Like mentioned by several commentators, peer review is an essential tool for pinpointing ambiguities such as this one.

This illustrates why people are asking just what metrics were used to grade by. Yes, obviously if you adjust the weight of certain values in the whole process, the results are going to shift, that is to be expected. But no one is demanding changes to the list, we're simply asking what was valued? If you can't even summerize a few of the specific parameters then quite simply you are either unwilling to or unable to do so. Either way it makes the entire process suspect.

Miss Oniseki already pointed out that simply saying "it's a grading system" is insufficient, as there are thousands, perhaps millions of different grading systems across the cluster. Further, suggesting that reading non-specific material about grading systems does nothing to answer the specific questions that have been posed and are thus far going ignored.

Even this definition of an "intellectual" is rather, well, vague. Without specific details, which people are requesting, an intellectual by that definition would technically be every single person with access to this comms venue, and lets face it most things on the IGS, and most people, are far from what most would call Intellectuals.

So again, can you provide some specific parameters and how they were valued compared to others?

I never thought there would be so much interest in the technical details but to satisfy the curiosity of the readers, I have decided to include them as add-on content in my upcoming biographical book.

Who is the subject of your biographical book?

It's going to be an autobiography. I am planning to write a few chapters about my childhood on Faurent III, and how I eventually became a capsuleer, began my hauling career and got interested in politics. Excerpts from selected public talks and a few unpublished speeches from exclusive dinner parties will also be provided.

I have to second Lady Farel's question there and to admit I am not quite content with the answer... if I may be blunt, in your opening word, you mentioned an elaborate grading system that came up with such a list... to quote:

Bastian Valoron wrote:
This list was compiled using an advanced system of data nodes* and expert drones. First, a pool of renown thinkers all over the cluster was formed. Next, their intellectual achievements were graded with points, and finally all the candidates were placed in order, as shown below.

If we could see into the systematic and modus operandi of your grading system more transparently, I'm sure there would any accusations of possible bias might be avoided, if such a system would prove that the choices were unbiased, and the whole thing would have a much more... scientific leverage to it, instead of being just a bunch of names anyone could've pulled from anywhere in an attempt at cheap pro-Federal propaganda.

But I'm not insinuating anything, of course.

On another topic, I am somehow missing a pragmatic point of this list. Unless there is a specific ceremony with some sort of handing out prizes where those people's ventures and achievements bearing some kind of reminiscence... it's pretty much rather mental-masturbatory, pardon my language.

Evanda will likely withhold cake until she's added. Mordu and Oiritsuu would also probably be upset. Actually, Hatakaan most certainly would be.
