Best T3 for PVP

Hello fellow space jockeys and pod rats. I have a slightly, er, pathetic killboard record since i have been focusing on PVE ever since day 1, and eventually **** hits the fan. I want to get into PVP, and the strategic cruiser is my eventual goal, so want to know which T3 cruiser is best for PVP before i begin to train, be it cloaked and probing or flat out guns and missiles, discuss which is best for this and maybe post some fits as well, thanks

Well, if your starting out start with something small.

I would suggest going up the Minmatar road, Lokis are excellent as suped up vagas, brick tanked webbing ships and various other roles.

In the mean time you would have such delights as the Rifter, Rupture and Cane to satiate your needs, fly these first, they will get you into PVP before hitting the big expensive ships up.
If your wallet balance is decent I would suggest starting in a Rupture, then moving to a cane, try both of the following flavours.

[Hurricane, Cane]
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

My top 4 Best T3 cruisers in game:

Amarr: Legion is the best Amarr strategic cruiser for PVP
Caldari: Tengu is definitely the superior Caldari PVP T3
Gallente: Proteus is amazing, there is no better T3 in the Gallente lineup for PVP
Minmatar: Loki is widely regarded as the best minnie T3 cruiser for PVP by a wide margin

So I'd choose from the above choices, rest aren't really worth the effort.

I never said it was the best, I said it was good at doing some things, then proceeded to list them.

If you want to do the things I listed, then the Loki is for you.

If not a different T3 is a better choice.

I know, Im just pointing out to those who dont know, there isnt a "best" T3, or a "best" anything really, they all perform amicably in different roles.

Like those 100mn Tengus which everybody loves... yeah.

Sorry if I came across a little rash.

All good buddy, we all need to enjoy the conversation =D

I personally like the Loki the most, but it's a bit more 'hard mode' than the 100mn tengu. v0v

Yeah, the only issue I take with it is its a lot of isk for what is essentially a super-vaga.

But if you have the isk to throw, then they are nice.

Also, I have heard good things about the Legion, and the Proteus with just stupid tanks.

If you're still playing this game with the illusion that there is a "best" ship, you really shouldn't be pvping in anything more expensive than a rifter.

tengu is certainly the t3 with the least weaknesses. (speak easiest to fly). Thats why everyone is using it and everyone else wants to nerf it.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Personally I fly the following when at war with RVB; it pops their noobfit frigs ridiculously fast.

[Legion, RVB]
Medium Armor Repairer II
Medium Armor Repairer II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Expanded Cargohold II

10MN Afterburner II
Medium Capacitor Booster II, Navy Cap Booster 800
Medium Capacitor Booster II, Navy Cap Booster 800
Medium Capacitor Booster II, Navy Cap Booster 800
ECCM - Radar II

Medium Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency S
Medium Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency S
Medium Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency S
Medium Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency S
Salvager II

Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Medium Nanobot Accelerator I

Legion Offensive - Drone Synthesis Projector
Legion Defensive - Nanobot Injector
Legion Electronics - Tactical Targeting Network
Legion Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Resevoir
Legion Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst

Warrior II x5
Valkyrie II x5

You need drones because they are the best vs frigates, local tank because they do no DPS, TTN for locking them fast after you pop them, Augmented Cap because you have a local tank and fuel catalyst to run your AB. Small guns because you hit frigates that way. This is easy to fly also, undock, shoot, get hundreds of kills and you will never die.

It's no different from nullsec pvp. Lowsec pvp is the same thing with slightly larger ships in order to tank the gate gunz.

Personally, I like the Proteus the best. Extended point/scram range is great. Range isn't too much of an issue for me, as I fight on wormholes mostly.

Also, I use a cloaky neut Legion for heavy tackle. Once you latch on, they aren't going anywhere.

No trolling please

I've only flown the cloaky Proteus for a few days and two easy kills, but yeah, the extended tackle range is just awesome. It can actually deal with a (non-linked) 100MN AB Tengu as well. A Wolf engaged me yesterday on our hole, I believe he thought he could kite me, but heated tackle snagged him.

My only gripe with the cloaky Proteus is how it looks with those subsystems, just terrible. Good thing it's cloaked most of the time, but I'm still sad that my finest spaceship is also the ugliest.

My current setup:

[Proteus, CovBlasterDrones]

Proteus Propulsion - Localized Injectors
Proteus Electronics - Friction Extension Processor
Proteus Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration
Proteus Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Proteus Defensive - Augmented Plating

Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M
Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M
Medium Nosferatu II
Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M

10MN MicroWarpdrive II
Shadow Serpentis Warp Scrambler
Federation Navy Stasis Webifier

Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Damage Control II
Armor Explosive Hardener II
Federation Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Federation Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I

Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Medium Ancillary Current Router I

Berserker SW-900 x1
Hobgoblin II x5
Warrior II x5
Hornet EC-300 x5

122K EHP
473 dps w/CNAM + Hob IIs (my peak w/Void+heat 618dps)
1276m/s (1806m/s)
Excellent cap, stable even with MWD running and without NOS

Navy EANMs add nothing more than price, I just forget to change them to normal ones.

Yeah, T2 active fits are decent. Against the blobs of RvB? Unless you show me your main's killboard, I'll take your fit with a pinch of salt and say you just EFT-warriored that out of nowhere and haven't even tried it in effective combat. Noobie frigates may do poor DPS, but fifty of them dropped on your ass stacks up.

EDIT: Active Proteus or cloaky neut WTF legion is best for PVP. Just sayin'.
