Why the new Stealth-bombers are CCP's best designed ships so far (IMHO).

I hope they don't change the T1 hulls. The Tristan is probably my favorite looking hull but think the proposed Nemesis design is pretty ugly and doesn't fit with other gallente ships (apart from the Proteus).

The tristan is also getting a new model. Both the bomber and the tech 1 hull will be different from each other.

The new Tristan looks boss, don't worry. : ) Same old ship, with a new fresh touch up. The idea is the new tech 2 bombers share similarities with the tech 1 ship but are in fact, new ships.

Even the tech 1 manticore isn't being replaced, just the bomber, so it can hold battleship missiles.

And yes, ships like the typhoon need to be drawn with guns on it.... so the overall ship design doesn't fail :/ Note, I love the Typhoon, i want a giant cargo ship retrofitted to be a battleship.... but.... i want it to LOOK like a cargo ship, not a mess of shapes with 4 turrets on the top of it in, with no thought put into it.

Even if they don't use the new T2 models for them, I hope the T1 hulls (Kestrel in particular) do get an upgrade as well.

One day they woke me up so I could live forever

It's such a shame the same will never happen to you

They will. No radical changes, but 'touch ups' and small modification to modernize them.

The Caldari ship is great but far too symetrical. I prefer the asymetric and almost semi-modular designs like the raven moa kestrel blackbird and condor. Caldari and Minmatarr should be largely asymmetrical.

I have the Impression that since the first battlecruisers came out CCP had a new concept artist working on the Caldari and that person really hates asymmetry and modular ships like the old Scorpion. Now most new Caldari designs are like these long designs like all BC, the destroyer, freighter and the capitals.

I don't like the new Caldari style too much.

Just look at the new Ibis. The old one was MUCH better, the new one just looks like a smaller Hookbill.

Okay, that looks okay... I just think the new nemesis looks too bulky in comparison to the others but i guess that's just down to personal taste.

I'm looking forward to see the new designe of the Inquisitor (which never realy fit into the Amarr line).

On the other hand the lovely Malediction, Vengeance, Curse and all the other Kahnid ships will disapear :(. Allways was a fan of this black + blue versions :).

Why the hell can't I fitt capital repairs or shield booster on an Orca ... it's an CAPITAL ship!

I like asymmetrical Caldari. The retouch to the Raven was great because it really didn't need to be changed much to "fix" it. (although the original hull design looks more like mini carrier than BS to me but that's moot)
The Scorpion however was just plain silly. Mainly the tail to center-mass connection was a sheet of cardboard. And while it now beautifully fits its namesake. I just wish the pirate version modified the structure more.
The new Manticore is a nice blend of symmetry and do-dads like the Naga.

My only hope for the Manticore and Kestrel is that they don't add stupid blinky lights all over it that does not match the skin like how it is currently.

Too bad this is only a side-project of the artists. (If I heard correctly.)

To CCP's Artists:

You may also want to think about internal layout of the ships, when thinking of ship redesigns.

If ever you implement your future vision in it's full glory, we'll want to walk around our actual ships. Would help if the interiors matched the shape of the hull.

If you look at the manticore preview it has a tiny person that looks like a speck for scale on the left side. I think they have plenty of space to work with within even a frigate whenever they get to their future vision.

I trained Amarr frigate to V so I NEVER have to look at a Helios in my hanger again.

Semi offtopic; but i wonder how a drake will look like, as its current design doesnt allow the missile turrets.

I always took this things sticking up from the sides as recessed missile bays. I figured that is what missiles would look like, fixed launchers with the missles flying in whatever direction they need to go.

I understand how the mechanics in EVE don't allow for coaxial guns and ships having only eight 'maximum-size' turret slots possible, but this can't be an excuse to not make the ships look like they are actually built around their weapon-systems.
While I get your point, ands don't disagree, I ought to point out that modern warships even today hardly show much of their undeniably deadly weapons systems, so the artists can be forgiven a bit.

Observe:

Where are the weapons..?
Only the CWIS and the 5-inch gun are obvious. Invisible are the 90 VLS cells, loaded with all maner of nastiness. Nor can you see the Harpoon launchers, the torpedo tubes, or the ASW helos (or drones, as things are progressing).

Only the sensors are really visible, aside from the 5-inch mount (which is arguably very much a secondary weapon).

Anyway, agree that the new designs are pretty tasty.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

I think the _Gallente_ Stealth bomber is the best looking ship because its quite radically different from typical gallente design, the other bombers follow their established design protocols and while they look nice, they arnt as spectacular.

I wonder if other ships will get unique skins or is it just because of the turrets that they changed the bombers.

I for one would love to see a new skin for Marauders or black ops....CCP could show us what they are REALLY capable of! :D

I was wondering if they'd redesign the Stealth Bomber to take into account launcher turrets.

Yeah, I've seen even the early WiS videos that demonstrate the humongous scale between even a cruiser and your avatar, but I think it still warrants consideration.

You don't just need room inside the ship to design interiors, but you have to match what is seen outside, with what is inside.

If the 3D ship model / texture, has a 3 story high window, you should have a 3 story high window on the inside as well.

Get my point?

One of their presentations showed the bomb launcher "turret" always being mounted on the underside of the bomber, so I'm sure they are taking that into account.
