Broken Launcher

Nothing works right now. I tried to auto patch, the launcher breaks and gives a lengthy error report. I try to open up the package and fix the common.ini problem but it does not work, I still get the same kind of error.

I have been trying to download the full 5.xxGB installer overnight and after 9 hrs, it is about 20% done. Back up copies of the application do not work either.

What is frustrating are these things:
- there's no alternative way to download a patch off the web site
- everything MUST go through the currently broken Launcher
- meanwhile, downloading the client seems to have slowed to a crawl

Why is there silence over the issue? I can't see any workarounds other than the tried and failed solutions. This is the 3rd time I've had to download a full client in recent weeks.

Hi, I've sent a link to this thread to the launcher development team so they can address your issues in more detail but given your description of them I'm inclined to think there is a connection issue between you and our content delivery network. This would explain the launcher not being able to get the data it needs as well as the slow download of the full client.

I also get some error message when I launch the launcher, can't copy and paste so not much I can add to help. But it simply doesn't work Shocked

the launcher wont do anything, it just sits there for a bit then gives a failed message before i launch the repair tool that also fails.
then i hit the start eve button that then does its download the patch thing. after that the game restarts and you guessed it i am back looking at the launcher sitting there doing nothing.


Update .
i finally after much searching found a clue in that this buggy launcher use's your internet browser to get its settings or data or what ever it does < sorry im no tech expert. Any way after dowloading firefox webbrowser (other browders exist), just this one worked for me and making sure it was the default browser, the launcher went ahead and did its update.
Still had to disable my virus software though which isnt a good thing.

Hopefully ccp will pass this along or fix the launcher so IE9 works since that has to be one of the most common browsers about

Right now, EVEN the Full Install does not work!

I download the full install which took 3 days to download. I install it and launch it. It attempts to download more patch data and then it fails!

I try a 3rd party patch that I found here: 3rd party patch work around and nothing works at all.

Deleting the common.ini file does not work.
Removing the Eve Online preference folder under Library/Application Support does not work.

I have 3 accounts, I can't change skills, I can't get into the game at all. This is absolutely the worst experience I've encountered in the past 5 years.

I have downloaded over 25GB worth of full installers over the last few weeks. I DREAD the idea every time CCP is going to put out another "small patch" because it means I have nearly 6GB of installer to download all over again.

I can't believe I am being billed for all this. Its been two weeks of not being able to do anything at all.

Blaming the connection between my ISP and your Content Delivery Network isn't going to get anywhere. The fact is that all the manual patches have been REMOVED, there is NO other way. So if your Content Delivery Network is not working right, then give us an alternative.

The fact is that I can download the full installer without problems, other than it takes 3 days. Yet I can download the full 2.x GB installer for some other game in mere minutes. But by forcing all patches through the Eve Launcher, we have no other options and when the CDN doesn't work right, we are left spinning our wheels.

Bring back the manual patches until you can get the Launcher and CDN working correctly. Please!

I've tried to reinstall EVE now using OS X and also XP and nothing works.

I successfully downloaded the installer (for Windows) along with the payload and then attempted to install. It fails after a very long while on the extraction and quits on me.

I have also attempted to reinstall using 2 different versions of OS X and nothing works.

Ok, I give up. There's nothing else left to try and I've got 2 accounts that are now NOT training any skills because I cannot go back in at all. I have a 3 week long trip a week from now and I guess I won't be able to schedule the super long skills on all 3 of my accounts.

The only left for me to do is to freeze my accounts. The silence from CCP is what gets me most of all.

I have the same problem on my iMac, the Launcher installed the last patch and sinc ethen it broke. I have currently deleted my entire client and have already tried downloading the client over and over again, but every damn time the dmg-file is damaged when I try to open it. I have downloaded it several times already with Firefox, currently I'm giving Safari a go.

I have the luck that I still have my MacBook Pro as well. For some reason that same patch that broke the Launcher on my iMac doesn't seem to give much trouble here, other than that sometimes the client just crashes without any warning. Usually this happenes when I just arrive at a stargate to jump.

Ditto - same on my MacBook Air! Corruption or broken launcher and/or patch, tried all suggested workarounds, took a system image then uninstalled, manually removed detritus, downloaded and reinstalled client same problem. Reinstalled image awaiting something that will successfully repair this mess.

My main PC also failed to patch so will likely see if I can get that working on a reinstallation - otherwise I'm all out of options not to mention patience!

I run EVE on 2 laptops.
I had a videography shoot, and my macbook was the lighter, smaller, and faster of the two.
The HD video I was shooting took up so much space I had to let go of the client to fulfill my contractual obligations.
Went to reinstall four days ago, and 10-15+ download attempts have failed before the download reaches 2.5GB.
Tried on multiple networks, so ISP's aren't the issue.
And apparently it's not just my macbook since everyone else is having the same problem.

I just spent most of what I made on my videography shoot on this account, and I feel sorta insulted that there's a ton of silence and not much communication between the devs and the players about what exactly is going on with the Mac version.

I see all these suggested workarounds and stuff like that(which have had no success with me yet), but is a patch or a revamp of the Mac installer in the works? I feel kinda screwed over here.
