Does this mean players who already have avatars will be given the option to re-customize? I see this as quite unfair that only newer players will be given the option to experience these changes if so.

We've had the option to recustomize every other time, why not this time? Stop being paranoid.

God I hope so, my alts all need some serious plastic surgery.

Just because you're not paranoid does not mean they are not after you.

They give a free recustomization around january last. (the real one with plastic surgery)
It's maybe deactivated. Reset "Recustomize Caharcter".

And when you have made an avatar that stands out from the crowd; remember to enter the EVE Portraits contest. There are awesome prizes up for grab.

At long last, the love children I've sired throughout the empires will finally resemble their old man. Thank you CCP.

As far as I know yes... although I don't want to say that's def. going to be that way.
And even thought it's on that page, I don't think it will be ready to go out in the escalation.

Adopt makes a very valid point and I think you should listen. If they make a radical or even a minor change to the character customization we should have the option to re-do it. For a amount of isk we should have the ability to do it and change our gender too.

We should also be able to choose independent of avatar what pronouns the game uses to describe us.

All your answers are here, PCGamer interview with Torfi.

Torfi wrote:
We’re not going to be offering weapons, or game changing items in EVE. We’ll be selling cosmetic things – the ability to overhaul your avatar, your ship, or customise your starbase. Things that will help you express yourself in the game. But we’re not going to allow pay-to-win.

Looks like those jack-asses at CCP are still willing to short change EVE's potential to shoehorn in more microtransactions.

Nex (Cash Shop) / Aurum - removing sand from the sandbox since Incarna. Currently the only use for aurum is to buy virtual items in the in-game store, but Cockerill expects to expand its uses in the future.

Right back at you. Some people need to be spoon fed.

The OP asked if people would be given the option to re-customize their avatars and based on various comments from Torfi, yes there will be, at a cost. Then concider that the response from Torfi was given when discussing microtransactions in EVE and unless CCP can confirm that this is not the case then these customization options will be for PLEX, Aurum or a straight up cost from the account page.

We are looking at the option of allowing you to completely overhaul your look, we call it Omni-plasti and there is even talk of gender change for the right price.

No, this is what you choose to read into it. Once again fetching the mountain for Muhammed after quoting CCP very, very selectively. A few things I will highlight for you:

(a) It has normally been the case when they make substantial changes to the re-customisation system to allow for a player to re-customise.
(b) They are introducing additional options
(c) Some future options may be paid through MT (Likely NeX?) but they are very cautious about this and do not really want to change the model overly much
(d) CCP, through Torfi, are talking about items that would be accepted as outside the normal scope. You see this in other MMOs as race / faction transfers, full re-customisation options, gender changes, etc.

But, I suppose it's time to have another round of chest beating, wailing and gnashing of teeth. After all, Mittani is no longer attracting 2000+ posts a day so the terminally dissatisfied needs something else to ***** and moan about or their lives will be too empty.

And I really dislike you for making me agree with Xenuria. I may need to go bleach my brain now.

What a truly facinating and insightful response, no really it is. So ultimately you agree that they will introduce more MT into the game and all that remains to be answered regarding the OP's original question is "will players get a free re-customization before they have to pay for them".

And I got accused of being a troll .... sheesh.

I just hope this re-sculpt would be retroactive, as I may be interested to pay a one-month sub to retrofit my toons once all the new options are delivered... Lol
