Check this out. When Can I buy my own system? I'd give $500 a month rent on a system of my own. password protected jump gates and all.

Entropia Universe is in the news again, and yes, it's because of a huge real-money transaction initiated by one of the game's players. MindArk says that a single investor bought $2.5 million US worth of land lot deeds on Calypso, which is one of the game's oldest planetary zones. Entropia's citizenship system originally launched last December with almost 60,000 land deeds up for grabs. The mechanic allows for revenue sharing among citizens; the annual return on investments is hovering around 27%.

In a nutshell, the system allows players to amass weekly profits directly from the game after an initial investment of $100 for a single land deed. Investment opportunities are open to anyone with an Entropia avatar, and MinkArk also reports that the game features over one million registered accounts and over $400 million in annual user-to-user transactions.

Why not? What's it going to hurt? Instead of PLEX I rent a system and have fun with it.

Now that is a funny clip, apt to the ridiculousness at hand.

But really, no, just no, and I say again, with extreme emphasis, no.

The idea flies in the face of everything that EVE is.

I love some of the concepts that Entropia Universe has. I enjoyed the game as well and would like to CCP use their own, unique EVE flavour in taking the concept of Entropia and turning that into WiS as a separate, yet linked game. Not the whole in-depth monetary economy, but some of it. Borrow the good bits. And make something that will pull more players into WiS to help support EVE Universe. While we can remain in our capsules as the Gods of New Eden.

CCP shoot 1000 RMT clients in the face so they can make thier game an RMT game? Not to mention Calypso has no PvP on 90% of its map.

What is stopping you from “owning” your own system now? Its not safe enough for you, you can't tell everyone not to play in your corner of the sandbox?

If you are willing to pay $500 a month you could easily convert that 500 a month into plexes which you can convert into isk. 500 a month will get you about 28 plexs a month and lets say you can easily convert the each plex into 450 million isk each, (which is low currently). That comes to 12.6 billion a month. If you had that amount of isk to spend monthly, you could easily rent a system in some Null Sec Alliance probably even a system with a station and it you would probably even still have isk left over to spend on stupidly expensive ships to blow up in pvp or whatever it is you want to do in your system.

Of course you might want to make some friends to live in your system with you to help protect it from the unfriendly people, or save some is to pay people to leave you alone. Chances are you won't be left along no matter what, or how much you pay people, but that is the burden of having your own system.

This is Eve you can't live in a bubble all by yourself, plus how would that be fun?

Of course if you are some guy with stupid amount of real life money, I though it would be a good idea to spend $2.5 million dollars in plex, to convert into isk for some reason in Eve. Which is not impossible but would take some work, to not crash the market. You could easily by an entire region in Null Sec, pay, or lure a bunch of people to be your friends and even pay some of the top Mercenary corps and Alliances to defend your space when your friends bail on you.

Although Eve is not like, Entropia Universe, where the company that owns Entropia, sort of functions like an investment bank and if you are really smart you can actually make money on your investment in the in game universe. No. With in the Eve through plex, you can put money in but you can't take it out but I am sure CCP would love to take your 500 a month, or your 2.5 million if you felt like it spending in such a way in eve.

If you want to rent a system I recommend talking to the Goons, they're selling war bonds to finance the Tenal invasion

Conceptually I kind of hear where you are coming from, but logically in the EVE world this would be....just plain wrong.

You can't "legally" monetize ISK. You can buy a crap load of ISK via PLEX and could pretty much obtain the same outcome, as others have said.

Yes, be nice to have your own little part of the universe to call your own, but being untouchable is not a part of it.

One thing I would love is deeeeep deeeeeeeeeeeep space exploration. Yes you could be left (somewhat) alone, but they could do it in such a way that logistical challenges prevent you from getting ultra rich.
