To the drone users- Do you sentries to kill things? I'm finding the damage a little lackluster... though it's obviously better than no damage with a TD'd Paladin, of course. I tried 5 Curators (The optimal seemed appropriate) and I think they're faster than Ogres due to travel time. Hammers were completely unable to kill the elite cruisers.

I've used sentries a lot. Curators are good for this mission - swap for Gardes when things start to get close.

Hammerheads should be able to kill those elite cruisers no problem. You probably have bad drone skills.

I can't believe some of you guys... The solutions are to buy a second account and dual box, spend months training up strategic cruisers or some pirate faction ship...

To the people telling me to kite the TDs- Are you certain you can outrun the cruisers and frigates in a battleship with an AB? A MWD wont be sustainable.

Use long range turrets and kite them. Tracking isn't a big issue when they are following you at a low traversal.

Better yet, burn towards them. Once you get inside their preferred orbit range, they'll burn directly away from you.

Ram them with a Nightmare for additional kinetic damage.
