Sony and ccp. Well my view. Sony said have all this wonderful creative freedom, here is money make your revolutions in gaming and be big! If CCP was in such financial troubles that they did fall under an umbrella, then glad it was sony. CCP also has strong ties with Nvidia. Don't hear any complaints about that. Oh, and everything CCP develops is proprietary, so unless the company completely folds, it is all theirs. Back to if...

there are any ties besides a "Sony loves CCP for bringing a groundbreaking exclusive F2P game to our console!" then good for ccp. It means the alternatives would have been folding or heavens forbid.

EA

Brr... feel dirty for even mentioning the plaque to game makers.

Imho Sony isn't exactly much better than EA, they're a totally unethical company (though they've not always been, unlike EA). The worst is Sony drives its own games into the ground. They've racked up a nice list of semi-failed MMOs because they don't understand that you need to keep updating long running games after release (and not just with bland content expansions).

The best example is EverQuest 2. This game still probably has the most content of any (non-sandbox) MMO, but it's plagued by bugs, the "we want to be WoW"-disease and a horribly outdated engine. On top of that the F2P "version" of the game is a total ripoff and even worse, subscribers to the paid "version" (they're exactly the same game, though SOE likes to consider them separately) can't even play with full options on the F2P servers, effectively cutting them off from people they introduce to the game but that start out on the F2P server (unless you want to suffer through a gimped experience, even though you already paid for the content...).

SOE customer support was the worst I'd encountered until I tried SWToR (though you could actually make quite a good argument for SWToR not even having customer support).

The one thing SOE had sorta going for it is that they still tried new stuff (Vanguard for example) but then they fail to provide any form of continued support to the devs of said game and instead of playing to a game's strengths or be content with a niche market (as EVE does, this game is not for everyone, nor is it meant to be) they pull the plug or force it to be WoW-ified (because they think that's what the market needs/wants: another WoW-copy).

Would Microsoft have been better? Doubtful, but at least they have proven to know how to make good games.

I see some people blowing off steam in defence of Goons, but very little opinion about the topic related matter.

Actually want to wade into the topic with your view of how you see Sony and its relationship with CCP? Will you actually go on record with your views?

And, there is nothing to 'see' in the relationship between sony and CCP. They are doing a fine job of coordinating the interaction of Dust and EVE.

It's the mittani and his sycophants that want to destroy the games themselves and leave us twisting in the wind. That's THEIR words.

Sony + CCP = Dust 514 great stuff, hope to see it on PC soon (TM).

Who knows where the realtionship may end up, assuming the EVE universe doesn't lose it's character in the process.

can't wait for sony to get their hands on eve, given their history of running such successful MMOs like EverQuest and SWG

I eagerly await "new game enhancements"

Thought i was by discussing it with you? I have given you an opportunity to clarify your current views.

Not my fault if originally you just wanted to brush the opportunity under the carpet.

So here is a perfect opportunity to "knit wounds" as a result. And I mean that both ways.

Of course you could just continue with your need to marganalise yourselves further?

You might want to read my post again bro.

I think in between reading your well reasoned post and continually glancing back at your alliance tag his brain just broke. Hence the incoherent babble he spewed in 'retort'.

edit- the idea that GSF (or sometimes the whole CFC) isn't an amorphous blob with a single opinion is just too much for some people. Weird isn't it?

So do Goons now believe that CCP in conjunction with SONY didnt throw the Mittani "under a bus"?

Seems to have been a re-ccuring message, and now posts are popping up with similar sentiment to make people feel "bad" about the developers.

Will the Goons actually go on record as being in support of CCP and Sony?

This isn't a black and white issue so stop trying to force it to be one.

Many goon believe CCP threw Mittani under a bus. Many goons support CCP. These are not necessarily mutually exclusive groups. Many goons have mixed feelings about Sony.

I personally think what CCP did to Mittens was a little too extreme. Removing him from the CSM for making an ass of himself at a player gathering is fine, especially after Mittani owned up to his mistake and was open to being kicked off the CSM. Banning his character for a month for an idiotic thing said outside of the game was dumb. I still think CCP has done some incredible things with the game in the past year and I really hope they continue to focus on spaceships in space.

I don't own a PS3 so will not be playing DUST. As long as Sony isn't planning on buying out CCP or forcing their way on to CCP's board, I'm completely indifferent to them.

See, not black and white. Human beings are capable of being complex special snowflakes. Show a little flexibility.

It is black and white. Mittani fuckied up. Mittani got punished. Black. White.

He was not "thrown under a bus". He did a bad thing and CCP had to take action. Period. It's like you expect CCP to take a bad rap for something they did not do. You simply aren't willing to take responsibility for your own actions so you try to make it look like someone else is at fault instead. The only people that believe otherwise are Goons and Goon pets.

Bounties for all! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2279821#post2279821

See, someone else who can't read...

The dude was trying to explain that people within GSF have differing opinions on the whole thing. Hence not black and white.

On behalf of Bat Country I can say that we <3 CCP and are loving the rampage they are currently on against the bots and RMT whores infesting this terrible internet spaceship game which we love dearly.

No. Quite the opposite: he's expecting CCP not to take a bad rap for something they didn't do — after all, why would they? So why do they have to protect themselves to such a degree against a bad rap that they're not very likely to get to begin with?

Also, as others have pointed out, you rather missed what the black-or-white issue is (or, rather, why it isn't as simple as black or white).

Don't know why you would want to bury this observation when it is obviously disccusing recent trends in the behaviour of forum posting.

Just post on whatever main you have in whatever alliance hates Goons. Really we don't care.

Too many to choose from I guess? lol

There, now that your bias is public we can let this thread die a peaceful death.

Does SONY know what it's getting with CCP?

Yeah, what we need is some kind of rating system for games that would inform parents that it might not be appropriate for their pre-teens.
