Is it just me or does Notch's latest game sound like an EVE ripoff?

EVE will probably lose quite a few people in the 13-18 demographic to that, and with some luck it will cause CCP to realize their brand can only truly thrive as an M rated title.

If flying your ship is going to be focused on programming a 16bit CPU, it'll be one hell of a niche game. Not an MMO, but an executive toy for amateur programmers. Nothing wrong with that but... I was kind of interested...

I dont know..... It sounds thats it is closer to Black Prophecy, than EVE. But a little competion is always goood.... maybe CCP can than ripoff others. P

For Example: I remember an early vid about Black Porphecy (in german)... where one gameesigner explains one solar-system. In this solar-system the sun rays something what damage the ships and take Hitpoints. The only save spots are in the shadow of planets, even the stations and gates etc.... are in the backside of the planets.... if you leave your save zone you get damage (like in the one eve nebula mission, where you have fly fast to a gate). I think adding that kind of system for example on the border of Empire- and 0.0 Space would bring some fun game play..... because you have than to choose between.... save route (with gate campers most likely) or the danger route (where gate camping is harder for the camper because the will have a hard time to be healty).

P.S. It would be a nice affect too.. to have some winds coming from the sun.

Perpetuum online is a much bigger eve ripoff, in everything except context.

If any carebears want a less harsh Eve, try Perpetuum.

They have PVP flagging! (and about 5 subscribers as a result)

I know a most valuable method in determining what this game will be like.
I will interact with it on some level and actually observe what happens.

How do you expect to carry on any sort of shiptoasting tradition if you do something like that? God gave us two feet so we could jump to conclusions.
