Countering Caps w/ subcaps

I recently got into W-space and i have noticed that i am facing quite a few carriers and dreads. Due to my lack of knowledge with regards to fighting these ships, i typically just run.

So, my question is, how does a small gang fair against caps (not supers cause there arent any in w-space). How much dps is necessary to take down a dread or carrier? and what fleet make up in necessary to kill them? can an rr tengu fleet do it? are neuts and ewar necessary?

if some one has already posted or blogged about this, send me that-a-way.

i have watched a couple vids of groups like R&K eating caps for breakfast, but i am not that skilled.

considering youre in starbridge, you should already have access to this information since they have killed caps in WHs before im sure.
that said, you did mention rr tengus as a legitimate pvp force so... maybe not...

basically you need neuts and to be able to kill any subcap support.
the caps themselves are rarely an issue once unsupported and neuted.

A lone carrier, you need 3-4 RR BS, because you are facing only about 900DPS maximum. People who brag about killing caps with 25+ man faction BS fleets including Bhallgorns...really.

Dual, triaging caps who do it well, you do need neuts - and lots thereof. But again, the DPS you face is pretty weak, and all you have to do is methodically work your way through the fighters and drones and eventually you win.

Subcap support is your greatest threat, as Jack says. If you can't bring a giant blob of Russians in Tengus you aren't in Starbridge.

5 RR BSs .... neuts .... dead single cap.

5 RR BSs + 3 logies ... neuts ... dead multiple caps .... just it will take longer.

Caps are deadly when mixed bag with support fleet.

Yea, about that... Starbridge used to dabble in this quite a bit some time ago, now i don't see so much tengus on their KB anymore.. on either side..

Could not get it to work? To hard to fly? missiles suck? predictable and hence easy to counter? What happened?

They got mad when their dreads got bumped around a bit too much. As in, bumped so hard it went right out the forcefield.

Also, all the strategies above work pretty damn well for cap killing.

thanks all. i have been in a tengu blob killing a rev. but my question was really about a minimum required fleet. and you guys answered that.

as far as starbridge is concerned, pretty sure they are holed up in a c6 somewhere amassing who knows what. tough alliance to be in when you dont speak russian.

When in doubt, Hurricanes. 7-8 completely standard AutoCanes will tear through a capital deceptively fast. Tempests are even better, but less friendly on mass limits.

the minimum req's shown here are nice, but you will rarely face a carrier alone. when you use such a small fleet you can be sure hell call some friends and **** you up

bare minimum for efficiency is somewhere around 10ish people id say. 2-3 logi's, 6-7 high dps ships, and if possible a bhaalgorn. they make life so much easier.

It really depends on the capital fit.

For instance, we once faced a faction / deadspace / max-skilled chimera in a C5 pulsar (capacitor and shield bonus) that took forever to die. (Good pilot too, pulsing smartbombs to take out missiles / drones)

Then we face complete idiots who can't even use capital reps and don't use all slots, who can be taken down by only a couple of people.

In the first example, it took a curse,12 heavy neuts and lots of DPS before we could break it.
In the second, lol.

You'll find that your question has no real purpose because whether you have 5 or 45 people active, everyone will be on that killmail :p

A better question would be "What ships should I ensure the killmail whores bring with them?"

I second erghhhh third that about the hurricanes, In a group they're very effective at neuting a carrier. Mix in 2 scimitars and maybe a falcon and you're golden.
